If you make the Canadian provinces all states too, then I’m figuring on enough new Democratic Senators and House of Rep members to change the balance in both Houses. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm starting to think this Absurdist Vaudeville is meant to distract from very real anti-democratic behavior in the form of abandoning Ukraine, handing our nation's secrets over to Russia via Tulsi Gabbard, and other traitorous activities.
This is just the way he is, and the way the media is.
He says stupid shit for attention. The media is lazy and just airs his stupid shit for ratings and to fill time without having to do any actual reporting/work.
The media will barely report on Ukraine/Gabbard/etc either way.
Let’s accept for a moment Canada would join the US. Why would it be only 1 state. Wouldn’t each province be its own state. How many new senators and reps and citizens who disagree with MAGA would that be?
Bro, just don't even give this any kind of traction. It's completely absurd and nothing about anything he says and does makes sense so don't try to make it make sense.
The first 2 have significantly even fewer people living there than Vermont or Wyoming. The third one has way more: more in fact than Utah, Iowa or Nevada (as at the 2020 census, so things might have shifted a bit since https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_by_population)
By the way Sarah, if Canada were to join we have 9 of 13 provinces and territories that have populations greater than Wyoming. So let’s say 20 senators for Canada
And the latest referendum failed to include ‘no change’ as an option. This is a decision that is very controversial and full of historical significance.
You can do that but you also need to understand that many people purposely don’t vote in these because of the way they are skewed and worded, with limited choices. Not voting is considered a vote there.
Many prefer to be a sovereign nation, there’s a huge pro independence sentiment, they are a very proud island. They want to protect what’s left of their culture/history, feeling that they were taken by force in 189? and are still resentful of the U.S. government’s actions afterwards. Etc.
ah, yes. I'm not surprised that many prefer being a sovereign nation, but I took your comment to mean that in absence of that, they don't want full state rights (like voting in presidential elections)
It’s very complicated and the debate is huge among the people there, there are lengthy articles and videos about it. Many do not feel that having states rights outweighs their many objections.
He’s reviving the “Monroe Doctrine”—the idea that America’s security and economic interests extend throughout the entire western hemisphere. This view implies that the U.S. can rightfully exert influence and control broadly in the region without consequence.
It really is crazy we have so many territories with no representation. I can see an argument against giving the US Virgin Islands two senators, but they should at least have a US representative (or independence)
I was hoping to convince annoying Orange that Greenland would politically balance out Puerto Rico, because DC is just to extremely absolutely Democrat, but they are more deserving so let realities be damned.
@sarahlongwell25.bsky.social look up Shawnigan Handshake. Then envision the Hockey playing nation becoming a 51st state that would resort to resolving differences with MAGA on ice... Cheetos meds are already off & it shows.
Does anyone else find it interesting that Trump is wanting to make land grabs in subarctic regions? It’s almost like they believe climate change is real. 🤔

Not even as a hypothetical
They’ve bombed stuff over stuff like that
Canada has about 1m more people than California, while 20 Republican States add up to the same population.
CA, 2 senators
20 GOP States, 40 senators
Canada, 2 senators
gotta protect the GOP
I mean, they loved having you last time.
Worth a look, eh.
