Italy’s national holiday on 25 April 2025 will mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation from Fascism. This is how the City of Rome is marking the occasion:

Everything is going according to plan.

Just a few months ago, the head of this group led a champagne toast at the Federalist Society gleefully celebrating the fall of the administrative state. He wanted a king, he got a king.

The former ambassador to Denmark for the United States, Rufus Gifford, posted this video on his Facebook account: Ht: @hpsc24.bsky.social

Canadian flight bookings to the U.S. this April through September are down by more than 70% year-over-year. The US has become dangerous and unpredictable. You are likely to get shot, mugged or imprisoned there. #boycottusa #cdnpoli #canada #fascistusa #racistusa www.airwaysmag.com/new-post/boo...

I can’t emphasize enough that cynicism is a dictator’s best friend. Stay outraged. Believe in and work for democracy.

Just bc I’m n the middle of a D-Day series on a history pod I listen to, it’s worth a note here that Canada landed its troops right alongside US and British forces that day.

This was always the risk with Gabbard and Patel at the head of our intelligence gathering. We not only will lose our own sources who won’t trust them, but we will lose intelligence from our close allies. This makes a terrorist attack on US soil much more likely.

I know it’s all just an epic meme for Musk/Trump bros but Canadians are deadly serious about all these threats. Nice little reminder that not everything is a nihilistic game.

The scale of corruption being perpetrated right now is almost beyond the limits of imagination. This is just one example, almost certainly not the greatest.

www.nytimes.com/2025/03/07/w... Disappointing to hear @rbreich.bsky.social and @jheil.bsky.social tucking it up over threats to Canada yesterday. Perhaps NYT can make you understand Canadians’ concerns 🙄

Some of his readers have asked Mike Masnick @mmasnick.bsky.social why his technology news site, Tech Dirt, has been covering politics so intensely lately. www.techdirt.com/2025/03/04/w... I cannot recommend Mike's reply enough. It's exactly what readers need to hear, what journalists need to do.

American friends in South Carolina put this flag up today 😍😘

Just saying the quiet part out loud

If Russia wants peace, they should end the invasion.

Over the last month we’ve seen the death of the post-WW2 era of American allegiance with Europe and most Americans don’t even know it happened

Ending the night with this. *Get your hankies* A D-Day veteran called a gracious and humbled Zelenskyy a hero.

*Also more than most of the Democratic Party has in the past three months

It’s not even in dispute & very clear in data. Racist federal housing finance policies in the 1930s+ [redlining] combined with continued disinvestment, made communities of color disproportionately have more concrete & less green infrastructure, which make them hotter. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Today’s lesson in Democracy. Voter turnout in yesterday’s provincial election in Ontario was 45 per cent. Now take a look at this chart from Elections Ontario. 42.97 per cent of 45 per cent means the winning party win with 19.34 per cent of the vote. Democracy baby- use it or lose it 🙄

Trump’s numbers on US & European aid to Ukraine are completely fabricated — Europe has given more to Ukraine and the US hasn’t reached anywhere near $350 billion.
