I dunno... a constitution based on black people being 2/3 of a person, a civil war that to this day has the rebels being glorified, Jim Crow, Japanese internment camps, illegal wars in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Iraq, tax cuts for the rich... America has been the bad guy for a long time now.
You can stop it. If the Repugs are more afraid of facing their own constituents than they fear the wrath of Trump, they will find the courage to stop the madness.
We most certainly are. And the appropriate response to Russia's takeover of the U.S. would be for Europe to eject the U.S. from NATO and immediately admit Ukraine to the EU and NATO. My country is worthless to the free world now. Europe, save yourselves.
Yeah, @jvl.bsky.social is 100% right on this! The US voted for what they are getting twice! And us in the rest of the world are going to be fucked over because of it! Wonder what Putin will do with money he gets from trade with the US? What the cookers (anti-reality) claimed happened with the.....
....biden government giving money back to Iran is exactly what is going to happen with the US doing trade deals with Putin! I have long said that Trump wants an Axis of Evil 2.0 with Xi (ruler of asiapac), Trump (R o Americas), Putin (R o Europe), and the 2 little rocket men (chaos)!
Our country is schizophrenic; bouncing between bombing civilians, feeding disaster victims, promoting liberal democracy, and funding overthrows of unfriendly governments. It has maintained peace amongst Western nations to the benefit of them. It has hamstrung developing economics to benefit itself.
“Good guy/bad guy” framework on the Bulwark is the only thing I can’t stand about the podcast.
This isn’t a cartoon!!! This is real life. Life is more complex than that. Please stop with the good guy/bad guy framework. It’s exhaustingly childish.
The American flag, since inception, has been horribly stained with the blood of brutalized or exploited people and only thru the overwhelming efforts of ordinary people and communities doing exceptional things is the country able to scrub out the bloodstains.
US foreign policy is being crafted by a moron who probably failed every social studies class he ever took, and who has a hard on for a Russian criminal that is almost as intoxicating to him as his hard on for himself.
That's *not* like when alarm companies advertise that their products make you "feel safe." In the case of Republiwhigs, since Gingrich, you *were* lied to.

Discussions are inspiring and necessary. But we little citizens need folks with larger platforms to start amplifying our protests. Are you on our anti fascist pro free country team? March 4 will be another big one.
Counter to Sarah’s view around the 14:20-15:00 zone is that the leaders she seeks aren’t speaking up because they are scared the people would side with Trump and shout them down. And they might not be wrong with respect to a big chunk of people.
Always a great show you guys. Thanks for existing and being voices for good. Hope more people find you, Sam, Bill, George and everyone else during this time. Cheers.
Great pod today! Lots of intelligent and thought-provoking content. I love that you guys can disagree on some things, but also have fun with each other.
@sarahlongwell25.bsky.social every time you laugh it just makes me giggle.
If you’re on the outside, the 65% doesn’t matter because the 35% are in charge. And their tenure is only 2% done. Or 4% if we get power back in Congress in 2 years. But, collectively, Dems are showing weakness of applying pressure with all means necessary. Chuck Schumer is no Mitch McConnell.
Stop blaming the Dems. They are doing all they have the legislative power to do, which is next to nothing. YOU need to put the fear of facing the voters into the elected Repugs. When they fear angry mobs at home more than they fear Trump, they will do the right thing.
We've been the "bad guy" for quite some time (most countries with imperial ambitions are). But now we've become so bad that we can no longer hide behind the myths we've built up for ourselves.
Gotta stop infantilizing the voters. They made their choice and constantly making excuses for them when many don't even think they did anything wrong is a waste of time.
Being as uninformed as the average american voter is should not be something that's excused. It's pathetic in this age of information that people are incapable of just going to the primary source and reading it instead of what someone says, whether it's rubio, elon, or catturd.

I know Tim isn't on here much, but I thought @sarahlongwell25.bsky.social or @jvl.bsky.social could bring it to his attention.

I think AOC criticism is ridiculous, unless that is defensive bc you’re afraid of her. She’s whip smart and well spoken.

But I get your point.
