it's always about what serves the scene. somethings eliding a few details can make it scarier or more upsetting, because the reader's imagination has to fill in the gaps.

i prefer to show everything. i don't think about my readers.

Sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere, but in Manhunt, when the fascist TERFs raid that house with all the trans women, what did the chore wheel with "pigeons" mean? It's something that stuck with me because I could not guess what kind of chore pigeons would be.
