in the neighborhood I grew up in, in FL, there were some pretty stubborn sandhill cranes. I never had run-ins with them, I would just see them standing wherever they wanted and perhaps would admire from afar.

Stayed at an AirBnB that had peacocks. It was mating season and the owner said the males would attack their own reflection if they thought it was a rival for their mate. Was not kidding. Thing went nuts on my buddies freshly washed Volkswagen Jetta.

That's what one of my Kansas Cattle Feeders told me when I asked what was with the assorted peacocks around the place. Might just be a county agent rather than system wide, I guess. We usually had 1 to go with the guinea fowl and geese for guard birds around the yard too.
