This is a primary Tier 1 capital source (held to maturity) for many US banks. They put a tremendous amount of it on during the 2021 boom, at extremely low rates, and they're mostly underwater on it to start.
Gotta be careful not to repatriate treasury sales into yen, though. They don't want the yen higher.
Might make more sense to sell MBS first.
People have to be looking hard at why they'd lend to the US at 4-handle rates when we plan to run 7-handle deficits.
