One vibeshift we’re going to see in the coming years is in media, for every complex well reasoned villain we’re to get 200 villains whose whole deal is just killing puppies

this is my secondary villain Softface Sweetheart who has a tragic past with deep insights on how he ended up that way and here is my primary villain Charles Crowe who gets off watching videos of suicide
Yeah, the redemption arcs for Cruella DeVille and Maleficent combined with Snyder making Superman murder someone made me realize how stupid that "everything is grey" trend was. No! Some people are just evil puppykillers! Some decide cursing a small child is fair for getting snubbed! There are jerks!
I thought the "no heroes" stuff was interesting in a thought-experiment way in like the early House of Cards days but soured on it when I realized people love those worlds and want them to be real. If everyone ends up a monster, nobody has to try to do any better.
producer: who's the writer who came up with this nuanced, complex, highly intelligent villain?
director: oh, that's Jane, she's really—
producer: this isn't science fiction, get her in line or fire her
Yeah. People exaggerated how many villains were nuanced and received redemption arcs. We are probably going to see a return to the classic villains rather than the stories with no antagonist
