Depends on what you like to do! I really like Bern as a city. The railway journeys are great, and make getting interrail worthwhile. Lots of scenic walking, lake swimming etc but it's as expensive as you've heard.

The train service is good and the views spectacular. My favourites are Berne, Basel, Lake Lucerne and Rigi, Zermatt, Lauterbrunnen We went to wine growing region, there’s a “ferry” which takes cars on a train through a tunnel in the mountains.
Besties, I just want chocolate. I don’t particularly care where it’s from as long as it’s decent. I also don’t care who sends it to me. Just. Give. Me. Chocolate.

I’d recommend Basel for its green roofs.
Zermatt for the boarding.
Montreux for the Freddie statue.
And Lake Geneva for you to sing “Smoooooooke on the water!” as you pass it.
