The Acolyte was such a refreshing, unique and fun Star Wars story. It's a travesty that the show didn't get renewed for a S2, and the toxic fandom spewed hate before it was even released.
I also absolutely hate when a story gets left on a cliffhanger.

People make it insufferably easy to have an opinion, when they feel it gets attention.
No, we got it. This is what rewatching is for! The reveals weren’t well built up or executed
The cast did great for what they had to work with, though
No finesse, no polish, lousy acting, terrible pacing and momentum and the stupid, tropey, childish fucking “lines of thought” the characters engage in is less SW and more Nick-At-Night. Pedantic, money-grabbing trash.
The problem with The Acolyte compared with the original trilogy is, it's released in the antisocial media era. Not saying it's a classic, but it wasn't terrible
Media is now competing with Youtube and TikTok for screentime and are losing
Acloyte seems to be part of a broader push in media to pump out sequels and cheap stories. Make a lot of small bets and hope one sticks (like Stranger Things)
There are even more sarcastic analyses of how the original trilogy was constantly debunking its own "lore", from the first scene all the way through to the end of The Last Jedi.
In business you cannot support something for the "principle of the thing."
Conversely, Skeleton Crew looks fun and I am excited for it.
Though, I haven't watched Andor.
I'm sad.
Granted, I doubt even that could've saved RoS, but I applaud them for daring to try.
Killing CA Moss’ Jedi right away felt like false advertising given how much she’s shown in the trailer. & the idea the Jedi were truly scared the witches were hurting the children just wasn’t believable.1/2
I wish it had gotten a 2nd season. A lot of good series don’t find their footing in 1st season but go on to do really well.
My fave scene was the bleeding of the lightsaber crystal. Great concept from the books. Well done in Acolyte.
Still, I don't think the flaws were unsalvageable, and I wish it had gotten a 2nd season.
For me, I couldn't watch it. The show couldn't decide what it was, trying to do too many things all at once.
Not sure I’d call the most convoluted assassination plot in cinema a super coherent plot tho
That's how the TV series Batman came about.
And what the fuck is the Thread anyway
I realise this is a nitpick but I think it's also an important distinction to make.
But based on this thread, I will give it one more try.
❤️
Some aspects were a bit meh, didn't love the opening mystery, dragged on at points.
Tho it absolutely deserved a S2, def think it earned one. But the internet is bad now. So we don't get one.
It wasn’t and you’re being disingenuous and sexist?
Just keep watching. Imagine turning off LOTR because you just didn’t care for a long-winded narration at the beginning.
I’m just saying maybe others shouldn’t listen to a review of a show from a person who didn’t watch it, that’s all.
Personally, I medically need to see the Stranger’s origin story. How do you drop that character on me and just walk away?
Also, extremely high quality made. Costumes, sets, on location. That’s what bothers me. It’s an extremely well-made show. Reviews are lying.
It seems that no one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans.
I'm more upset about mindhunters not getting finished.
Fights were great though.
But it did have writing problems and some mediocre actors. And ultimately just cost way, WAY too much for the viewership it received. Id bet on it being cancelled even sans toxicity.
Or even a follow up series.
The inability to simply let other people enjoy things you do not is what makes the Star Wars fandom so toxic. It’s as simple as that. Harassing fans for liking a show is gross.
When people feel the need to bang people who like the show over the head with their contrary opinion, it’s weird. Why not just let them like it in peace?
There ARE people who didn’t like the show because they’re racist/sexist and it’s disingenuous to pretend that doesn’t exist. Especially directly to the people who have been harassed by them.
No one is stopping you from saying you don’t like it and most of us who do like it don’t care that you have a different opinion.
Bro, have you even watched the Star Wars films?
After watching the whole season, go back and watch the opening fight again. They reveal everything in this fight, but you didn’t hear them say a word.
The show had some issues, as many shows do, but the hate for it was ridiculous, and a good portion of the fandom is definitely toxic
I haven't seen The Acolyte but if someone thinks it was fun that's perfectly valid without downplaying their experience as "not understanding its objective quality." Ä
Terrible show. Didn't earn a 2nd season. 👎
That tells you all you need to know.
And you can judge the character of those commenting under this post by how many knots they tie themselves in trying to pretend this isn't the case. "Bad writing" and "terrible dialogue" are trademarks owned by G Lucas
The power of two!
The power of manyyyy!
Worst fucking SW script ever written.
Pandering, plebeian claptrap that was so poorly received by its audience that D+ chose not to renew it.
Seethe all you want. The actual viewership numbers don’t lie.
“I better ad-hominem attack their age and preferences like the disingenuous troll-turd I am!”
I fucking hated the Holiday Special. You don’t know me. Sit down.
I am not ashamed to say I love SW, maybe not all equally, but still love!
Even if it’s not particularly good, I still enjoy seeing another glimpse into that universe and will watch it.
Great performances, too. I hope we at least get a comic or maybe a one shot to complete the story.
power of many" clip hit the internet.
They say they're Star Wars fans, but they're really just fans of nostalgia and what they think Star Wars should be.
News flash its star wars it's all bad writing. It just didn't center around a Skywalker for once.
What I didn't particularly like was when they did the twin swap trope, that should not have worked because both twins have unique identifying marks, with one straight on her forehead.
