I don't know that that would've happened a few years ago, but it definitely feels like the group, primarily comprised of Democrats in blue cities and suburbs, is getting more and more openly conservative.

I should note that when the original speaker said "Deport Scott Wiener," another woman from San Francisco, who definitely IDs as a Democrat, said "let's just send him overseas." The original speaker responded "to El Salvador."

We live in incredibly disturbing times.

Scott Wiener is a California politician who has been one of the most ardent champions in the country for LGBTQ rights, for women's rights, and against fascism.

"Joking" about wanting him to be deported because he wants to build more housing is actually insane.

NIMBYs have been openly calling for homeless people to get sent to the camps for years now, this a socially acceptable viewpoint to air in polite ostensibly Dem company in a lot of California, like, even the "everyone is welcome here" lawn sign NIMBYs.

They vote Dem because they perceive Dems to be more likely to enforce the taxation and zoning regime that directly enriches them. If there was a strong Dem candidate that threatened that, they would vote R tomorrow and forever.

California NIMBYs are right wingers that don’t want the negative connotations of being labeled as one, so they call themselves democrats. Not to discount that the DNC hasn’t moved farther to the right, but I’ve heard some truly heinous rhetoric from NIMBYs all to protect their property values.

I stumbled upon this thread via a repost. The NIMBY problem persists EVERYWHERE. I have concluded in recent years they are all conservative/libertarian do nothings and vote that way accordingly behind closed doors; demolishers of anything possible.
