Ooh obedient plant is in the mint family! That sounds perfect, I'm reading about it now. Thank you!

Aw thats so kind! I'll keep it in mind! Unfortunately I don't stray too far these days because I have a creaky old chihuahua with delicate health issues.

To be fair if I had the ability to go poke around Fort Knox and look at gold and stuff I absolutely would too. π

Oh gosh π₯Ή How did you come across this lovely organization?

That's kinda bonkers, I too have never seen that.

Beautiful video! They really should have shared some info along with it. Lots of mad comments on the main thread that can't see it's some kind of banding project.

I need to find a way to shoehorn this plant into my life somewhere because it is a spectacular vine. I ordered 2 from a nursery but they died pretty quickly. Must try again!

Also your one passionflower photo caption is hilarious. Cackling! π

Thank you for all these marvelous photos! I'm going to go back through your comments and take notes. π

Thank you! I have some blue mistflower seeds outside in containers, I think they are lovely flowers so I'm really hoping those work out. These are nice combinations!

Oh that's really wonderful how everything is melting together. β€οΈ Taking a screenshot of your suggestions, thank you.

What sweet names, all of those sound like things that were invented for children's books. π I do at least know bluebells, Virginia Bluebells!

Oh and P.S. the USA part was mostly because there are so many gardeners from around the globe that contribute to the gardening feeds. π

I'm excited to put mint everywhere this year. Looking up the other plants now! I bought columbine seeds last year but didnt get around to it- I'll put some out in a container & hope for the best. Our temperatures will probably continue to be crazy all over the place so maybe enough cold days left?

Taking a screenshot of this for my folder of plants to look into, this is definitely a suggestion that I need. πππ

Everything I've ordered from Prairie Moon this year is East Coast native at least, if not Virginia specific. The range maps on their website are so helpful.

Wow that looks so good together. What a pleasant video with all the birds chirping! π

Unfortunately this is an old picture from right after we bought the property, and we haven't seen goldenrod in some time! This was before the yard crew was hired. Those guys even weed whacked our first milkweed patch! π«’ We will bring the goldenrod back again this year.

Thanks for the recommendations! Your acre of milkweed sounds heavenly π

Definitely! It's so rewarding to watch caterpillars munch on things. We have a nice established patch of milkweed, plenty of violets, a couple spicebush, and always grow dill. Now trying to learn about more host plants I don't see as often, very challenging to my brain to keep track of everything. π³

Mountain mint seeds also on order. One thing I need help with is grasses, I don't know how to utilize those at all. Going to read up on your organization π

Cool thanks for all this! I would be delighted to buy from your org's nursery, I'm trying to grow some and buy some to keep costs down. I have goldenrod seeds on order and aster seeds outside in containers. I'll have to revisit all your comments to see what else you said.

Yes, thank you! I have learned so much from her posts. I'm waiting on a seed order with a lot of purchases inspired by her native plants for beginners series. ππ

I bought some milkweed from them before I found it's pretty easy to grow! They are a wonderful, reliable company. β€οΈ

Rhododendrons are pretty wonderful! Deer did munch our new plantings last winter but I notice they leave the mature ones alone. Thank you for these pairing ideas!

And if nobody has any suggestions that's fine. π I'll just wing it and plant things willy nilly.

You need to come visit Uppv this summer. It's so perfect for growing flowers! It's like the sun is magically somehow sunnier there.

We are building a new good-sized sunny pollinator area, and there's some fence line in full sun + shade I can plant against. I've ordered lots of seeds but would love any suggestions of plants or maybe shrubs that compliment each other. No HOA, but heavy deer activity. π¦ VA Piedmont zone 7. β€οΈ Thx!

Thats cool and practical too! π I have a big sack of fabric because I had intended to try this- do you use a loom, or some other technique? I meant to make one during the pandemic but never got around to making/buying a loom.

The other theory being that the stroke addled him, which is pretty terrible but I can see why that would seem plausible. I had sent him some money in the past so I'm pretty bummed and confused.

I hope you can get back into it-- maybe just pick the easiest craft you have hanging around! Craft therapy doesn't have to produce masterpieces π

Oh I am not so skillful, these are just cut from the rectangular craft sheets of felt that kids often use. π I have not tried proper felting yet but I want to!

Honestly that's great. I think you will be pretty good at felting!
