Specifically, these are the consumer inflation expectation survey and consumer sentiment survey, broken out by self-identified political party. Not the hard data, but these surveys do impact the Fed. And yes, these numbers are pretty bad.

Clearwater was known for Hooters and Scientology. Now just Scientology, I guess.

Weird how massive programs like the EPA and Medicare/Medicaid passed with some opposition, but generally a normal Schoolhouse Rock process. It was the civil rights legislation and ERA that really drew the scorched earth opposition.

We should assume any social media platform with an algorithm is going to have a political agenda reflecting its leadership. It's not an infringement on anyone's speech to require all social media companies give their users tools to turn this off.

Nixon, much like Trump, was concerned above all else with staying in power. He could support or oppose just about any position if it helped him personally. Unlike Trump, he had much higher favorability so didn't need to constantly work to keep his coalition together.

We lionize the leaders who, even at the final moment, decide to do what is right and oppose the lawbreaking leaders of their own party. McConnell and McCarthy could have been remembered this way, but now they will be known to history as cowards of the first order.

Nixon launched the Southern Strategy, but it didn't fully come to fruition until Reagan. Nixon said there are more racist voters than black voters, so he wanted to appeal to the racists.

"his business acumen" I know Dems have been hammering this for years but the fact that so many still believe it is just disheartening.

I think it's the difference between"real" vs "abstract" suffering. Telling people that deporting immigrants and imposing tariffs will lead to higher costs: fine with that. Actually losing your job or house: uh oh.

Everest is my favorite ride of all four parks. Really well thought out, and it's old school - no screens like the new ones.

Ultimately airports will have no choice but to reduce the number of flights, you can't quickly train new air traffic controllers. Expect flight prices to increase pretty dramatically since planes were already close to full. Good thing we have an extensive high speed rail network to use instead.

Sure, but there were quite a few R senators who also voted against it. Not sure how "I'm going to vote for the party that universally opposes what I want because the other party only mostly supports what I want" is a sound theory of the electorate.

It took the Nazis one month, three weeks, two days, eight hours, and 40 minutes to dismantle a constitutional republic. When the fire starts to burn, every good person better be ready to man a post with a bucket of water if you want to stop it from raging out of control.

From the office of Chuck Schumer: Thanks to our diligent engagement with DOGE, we were able to achieve a significant compromise. All printed materials referencing DEI and/or climate change are now able to be recycled, instead of just thrown in the nearest landfill.

There is a fundamental imbalance. Republicans are almost always trying to destroy the institutions of government while Dems are trying to build or preserve them, and with the enforcement arms are under Republican control we're reliant on good people in certain agencies refusing to follow orders.

Remember that time that Jimmy John's tried to argue that they needed non-competes to protect their company from the secret to putting meat on bread.

Apart from the long run damage being done to the country and the world, the world's richest man gleefully destroying the lives of hundreds of thousands of low-level government employees is sickening.
