All of this is more complicated by how well Scotland is doing in comparison. Just as sexual health resources are stripped away from Americans, I get an NHS text offering all Scots access to free, discreet STI testing. USians losing their homes, Scotland's giving us solar panels. #SurvivorsGuilt

Also, I'm noticing a pattern that virtually every other healthcare worker in Scotland is called Fiona and, without fail, every single one I have met has either been FUCKING DREADFUL or an absolute breath of fresh air.
There has been no in between.

Dental appointment was better - our dentist is very non-judgmental and I'm happy w/ our treatment. That said, I had to ask them to switch from loose surgical masks to a (provided) FFP3, since baggy blues don't protect against aerosols.
Response: "We aren't using aerosols on you??"

It's interesting how much that French influence carries over to American English more than British-English as well. I've had to re-learn to pronounce some things upon returning to the UK, and of the words 'borrowed' from French, I've noticed that the US pronounciation is usually closer (eg, 'herb').

Not the strongest example, but like I'm watching the Marlee Matlin #Sundance Q&A and I swear, I'm 'hearing' her sign in a French accent - her gestures look so Pariesienne. She practically throws in a "[...], quoi!" at the 1:21 mark. www.dailymoth.com/blog/premier...

I've been on LinkedIn watching academics discuss Bsky for a little bit now - I just assumed it was confirmation bias that I was seeing so many from academia on here but clearly it's a 'thing'!

The best piece of community care you can do starts with putting on a goddamn mask. Then you can go to the mat for healthcare, such that it is. Because here’s the thing about disability:
It can and does happen to anyone across any other marginalizations.
Unlearning ableism is key.

The MRI in our hospital was 1.5 Tesla and the MRI strength that has been catching weird COVID damage in studies was 7T. It was so hard to convince him that a kid with numbness/weakness needed any MRI to begin with. He said because she was home ed it was difficult to tell what was ‘normal behaviour’.

When my 6 year old was admitted to hospital due to neurological symptoms that don’t appear in healthy 6 year olds, the paediatrician we saw (previously mask refuser prior to a complaint) only wanted to give her basic bloods and urine test until I pushed for an MRI/EEG and another doctor agreed.

Once you’re at the hospital, you have to try and keep yourself safe from medical trauma & infections
This is a difficult task in the “you do you” era of COVID pandemic. Healthcare facilities have all but given up trying to contain the virus despite hospital acquired COVID having a 10% fatality rate

If anyone has done anything like this before but with more targeted communities in mind (e.g., creating a variety of types of 'no services available' bags for different groups of people), please infodump to your heart's content! #Prepping #MutualAid #Community #Disabled

I’ve been waiting for a few years to see if these studies and reports would start coming in. Humans are dangerous animals and we’re about to get a lot worse.

No one I know is doing well. It feels like it's been like that for a long time now.

Is it possible to apply as a remote (Scotland) candidate?

I've only just discovered this opportunity today (after reverse-searching a part of the application that someone else shared that had the most inclusive application requirements I've ever seen in my life) - and the deadline is in 2 days with the school's application needing to be in today 🤦

So very seriously - as someone who is a prepper at heart, and more so as she ages because we all revert to childhood in our senior years, download your local preparedness lists.
Here's the AB emergency kit lists:
