Most of the problems come back to austerity and greed, too. Extortionate privatised car parks, expensive/non-existent public transport and overpriced taxis are as much to blame as anything else.

There's such a warped view of what the night economy is, too. It isn't just clubnights - it's live music, comedy, restaurants, art. So much creativity that simply isn't being supported.

At a time when mainstream gigs cost silly money and are reserved for large cities, these venues are so important for UK culture.

Councils need to understand that these venues are primarily for live music - the club nights are often there to support that, whether financially or through building a community.

It's the same situation with driving instructors. All their business appears to be through word-of-mouth/Facebook, which feels so alien to me.

Some clients obsess over it, but it ultimately only matters to me if competition is noticeably better and UX is heavily impacted.

Definitely. As long as you look at the average over a period of time, the accuracy is usually close, but spot-checking is difficult. Clients just need to be made aware of that.
