Patel. Braverman. Shapps. Braverman (again). Cleverly. Cooper. 6 years of Home Secretaries from both tired old parties demonising migrants. 6 years of refusing to face up to the consequences of their austerity. 6 years of protecting the interests of the powerful and wealthy

Lots of talk lately about why young people are losing faith in democracy - but when mainstream politicians sit back and shrug their shoulders in the face of environmental crisis and declining living standards, can we really be surprised? www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/lets-p...

When will Govt learn you can’t out-Reform Reform - you end up simply legitimising their toxic narrative. To see off populists, Labour needs to invest in public services & local communities, making a real difference to people’s lives - levy a wealth tax & use it to improve people’s lives *now*

President Trump, "They don't take our cars or our farm products.. We take cars.. Food and farm products" Has anyone explained to him the reason why we don'y buy US food is because standards are so low in the US...

Good to see him challenged. Six times he's asked how he'd improve a deal he admits needs improving. All he can say is "we can be friendly". Finally, his response to majority who want closer relations with EU is: "Let's do a deal with the US." A deal that's not on the table. More magical cake. ~AA

@Keir Starmer 👀 #Rosebank

Incredibly disappointed that MPs didn’t get the chance to vote on the Climate and Nature Bill - a crucial piece of legislation to prevent climate breakdown and protect our natural world. But thanks to all those who backed it - I'll keep fighting for urgent climate action #CANBill

A vote for this bill is a vote for a liveable future & I urge every single MP to join me in passing this historic piece of legislation. Those who vote against must look to their consciences & ask why they're prepared to squander this historic opportunity #CANBill www.theguardian.com/environment/...

What is the point of this Labour government? They are completely lacking in ambition and courage. It's nauseating and deeply disappointing. Write to your Labour MPs urging them to support the bill and to insist on a free unwhipped vote. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

🎉 Huge welcome to everyone new to the Green Party! And here's how anyone else who wants to can join too: join.greenparty.org.uk

Yes @implausibleblog.bsky.social Lord Leong's answers are always poor.

What about Elon Musk and Donald Trump. Will they be arrested when they break the law?

In spite of being a Baroness, I think the honours system is barking mad, lodged in a medieval miasma of royal privilege and abuse, and often pointless. However, I do congratulate Sadiq Khan @london.gov.uk on his knighthood!

This is Lord Rothermere the owner of the Daily Mail. He lives in a massive mansion in the English countryside, but he pays no tax here because he identifies as French. While the Daily Mail is registered in Bermuda and pays no tax anywhere. That is his ‘Patriotism’.

Actually staggering that this foghorn of failure should continue to speak in public, let alone consider himself entitled to comment on what Labour may or may not renegotiate on HIS unforgivably dismal, relentlessly crappy Brexit deal. Unless he’s apologising for that, he can stfu forever, frankly.

“My 2023 open letter to the BBC about Question Time, read by more than 300,000 people in 144 countries, was widely reported in the media. It even informed questions posed to the BBC’s director general Tim Davie at a parliamentary select committee.”

‘We’re getting poorer’ says Nigel Farage In other news the Brexit he championed is on course to cut UK trade by a staggering 15% - a huge reduction in the potential economic performance of the country at a time when every penny counts youtu.be/jvo1JM6xZqQ?...

“Everyone in positions of influence should ask themselves the question: are you treating those fighting to save the planet more harshly than those fighting for inherited wealth? If so, why?” @josiah.writes.news bylinetimes.com/2024/12/12/t...

Just Stop Oil have confirmed that they will be using tractors in their next protest. Because people rich enough to own them can do no wrong in the eyes of the Media or the Police.

Protesting to pay less tax on your millions and blocking ambulances - fine, no problem Protesting to save the planet and not blocking ambulances - evil and must be locked up #TwoTierReporting bylinetimes.com/2024/12/12/t...

How many arrests?

“While some Conservative and Reform politicians suggest UK should lean politically towards a Trump presidency at the expense of Europe, this did not seem to be a view shared by many voters” “Will of the people”, lads. Remember? We’re all sick of your Brexit mess. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

In 1968 Finland banned for profit education, the few private schools that exist in Finland have to reinvest any profit they make or pay it back to parents. It has been in the Top 3 in education for the last 20 years. There should be no profit in education or healthcare.

Petition. Run a public information campaign on the climate crisis: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70... #ClimateCrisis #ClimateEmergency #ClimateAction

This is sort of fascinating because if you were to turn on pretty much any talk radio station or pick up any tabloid, you'd be forgiven for thinking it was the inverse.

Nick Candy says he will raise more than £40 million to make Nigel Farage Prime Minister. Oh ok. That’s how it’s going to work now, is it? Democracy torched by spoiled brat billionaires buying power for themselves and their arsehole mates. It couldn’t be more critical for us all that they fail.

2016: Nigel Farage, "The worst case scenario (of Brexit) is better off than where we are today" 2024: Nigel Farage, "Let's worry about where the country is going, the fact that we're getting poorer"

This 👇🏼💚

If that disgusting racist and grifting liar Nigel Farage shouldn't have been on Question Time even once, nevermind 38 times. Give this a Like, or better yet a RP.

Nigel Farage isn't the answer to our problems, Britain. He is the cause of them. Until my country can work that very simple puzzle out we are doomed. #bbcqt

You boy, has that #FarageRiots held a parliamentary surgery in Clacton yet?

I predict Gregg Wallace's next move will be to claim he's been cancelled by the "woke brigade" & reinvent himself as a right-wing conspiracy theorist "man of the people". Perhaps as a presenter on GB News, or with his own YouTube channel. See also Neil Oliver, Russell Brand, etc.

A terifying possibility we need to be ready to fight back against. Part of that fight back will include making @bsky.app the biggest social media platform in the world. We CAN do it www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

Industrial farming is choking our planet . Yet at a time when we should be supporting farmers to invest in restoring nature and transitioning away from destructive animal ag , the news that government have slashed wildlife-friendly budgets even further is just plain insanity . #Peston

"But it’s more than that – (the two and three-wheelers) are actually displacing four times as much demand for oil as all the world’s electric cars at present, due to their staggering uptake in China and other nations where mopeds are a common form of transport." theconversation.com/the-worlds-2...

Clinicians are doing far too much admin work in the NHS, which is hugely inefficient. If politicians want to rebuild the service, we need to look at the systems used and employ more support staff to do valuable work to free up doctors, nurses and other NHS staff to focus on patients. 💙

So MPs vote 330 to 275 in favour of the #AssistedDying Bill & so bring hope & comfort to so many. It has the strongest safeguards in the world & by keeping issue in public eye as it goes forward for further consideration, we have best chance of improving palliative care too @dignityindying.org.uk

Fascists and fascist-adjacent politicians do not like scrutiny.

1. The implicit deal behind Starmerism was this: you might not like what he stands for (or fails to stand for), but at least he knows how to win elections. If you want the Tories out, he’s your only hope. But now? It’s as if he’s going out of his way to lose in 2029. 🧵

"Some jobs are productive and others less so," says Kemi Badenoch, whose own job has involved trying to start a culture war with autistic children, calling for civil servants to be locked up, and attempting to start an online spat with Doctor Who

I am trying to take public transportation more instead of driving. I am trying to eliminate my spending at Walmart and Amazon entirely. I am trying to use less plastic. I am trying to eat less meat and never get fast food. These tiny acts of resistance add up. I recommend you all try to do the same.

In 1970 the richest 1% had about 4x the wealth of the average person, and the richest 0.01% had about 30x. Now the richest 1% have 12x the wealth of the average person, and the richest 0.01% have 1000x. This is the problem.
