Professional Philatelist, stamp-dealer, PTS Member - that's the work stuff, also first and foremost an Evertonian, a Petrol Head and Twitter escapee. Let's hope this is as much fun as the other place used to be...

Octavia vRS? Kind of sensible fun, because "ooh boot-space"

I'll go away and work on my writing.
In all seriousness, I have no idea what it is either. Small SUVs mostly look the same. It's all swooping lines and floating roofline, innit?

PS my car is filthy, so it is a reflection of my personality (and HS-fucking-2 is down the road so it's pointless trying to keep your car clean)

It's a Nisspeugota, it has a 3 cylinder 1.0l turbo, you don't need to know what it costs because everyone buys it on a monthly deal with 10Gb of data, unlimited texts, and free Netflix for 3 months.

...is someone paid a bonus to constantly change everything or are they over-staffed and create pointless work for themselves? Nothing ever stays the same, just as you get used to the latest change, well, here comes another. Stop it, stop it, stop it.
Right, rant over.

Went down an Autotrader rabbit-hole when you replied with this! £1500 for a GTi (140bhp) or £2850 for a GTi180, but instead ended up scrolling through Alfa Romeo Breras.

Ex had a 1.6 petrol, decent turn of speed and a nice steer. Electrics were a disaster, although potholes would occasionally wake them.

There was a gaping hole where Liberia was and I couldn't find anything to fill it with without spending more money than I'd like (for a silly idea) so I painted a Liberian stamp and added some perforations I had hanging around. I don't think a career in forgery or stamp design awaits :D

I love facts like that. I tell all philatelists to embrace their inner nerd. I'd guess that archaeologists might feel the same way.

I have a vague memory that even Which? magazine called both the 80s 1.3 and 1.6 "woefully underpowered." However, in a world of Fast Fords and their appreciating values, anyone lovingly running a 1.3 or 1.6 has my respect.

With facts like these, you would find a welcome home in philately.

Harris Hino in Ireland, no Wikipedia page, but their website does refer to import and assembly, so I'll assume they've assembled them.

A particular article headline read, "It's a Long Way to Tip a Hino," which, almost forty years on, makes perfect sense, if they were made in Ireland. Why I can recall the headline is beyond me.

IIRC Hino were specialised makers of tipper trucks. I used to buy one or two month old Truck and Driver magazines for 10p off the market and lapped up how many hours you could drive for, axle weights etc. I have weirdly specific mid 80s truck knowledge.

When Everton were splashing silly money about under the previous owners, Rashford to Everton would not have surprised me in this window. Now Moyes is back we'll buy a Dutch left back no one has heard of and an U21 player from West Ham.

I once spent an hour swearing at a Ford Focus at the lack of space behind the headlight. Gave up, went to YouTube and then embarrassedley changed both bulbs in 5 minutes once I'd learned about the two metal clips that you easily slide out and the whole headlight comes out.

Did your Everton pundit-ing get edited out? What awful news are you keeping from us...

At least a lot of #OldCarTwitter came over here, as well as loads of Evertonians (if that's your sort of thing). Unfortunately stamp guys are not early adopters, otherwise I'd pretty much have 80% of my community.
