imagine demanding somebody else thank your boss. they need a Greek letter lower than Omega to describe this level of subservience

Zelenskyy should have Moe Howard'd the pair of them.

who told this pampered asshole he has the right to speak to anyone like this?

One of the most common arguments you hear from fans of generative ‘AI’ is that it’s not plagiarizing people’s work, it’s just learning like a human learns. So I’m going to break down why that’s just not true, and why it can never be true, with the existing systems. 1/

LAUREN BACALL: you just put your lips together and blow HUMPHREY BOGART: *holding nintendo cartridge* i know how to get it to work lauren

Wowow. A single etsy vendor has sold 40,000 stickers to Tesla owners who want to make it clear they don’t like Musk in the last few months.

hey guys I'm trying to establish right-wing dictatorship in a wealthy, diverse, and relatively robust democracy. the ideal political economy for my project is one in which I've picked fights with the military and professional classes and strapped a ticking time bomb to Wall Street, right?

Musk knowingly facilitates and profits from large-scale slavery, which would end without his help. He just personally defunded the U.S. initiatives that help people escape these compounds. www.wired.com/story/starli...

After months of rumors, I can confirm that the "big 3" SF/F magazines of Asimov's Science Fiction, Analog Science Fiction and Fact, and Fantasy and Science Fiction have been purchased. The new owner is Steven Salpeter and a group of investors. 1/2 www.patreon.com/posts/123173...

When you believe in personal liberties so much you order everyone to write about them.

i keep reading posts from people getting laid off in genuinely every possible tech industry you can imagine and it's so fucking insane that the thing people have to worry about isn't "can an AI do my job" but "can a very stupid person convince my boss that an AI can do my job"

This tour through the music of Sammi Smith is a gd gift to the world

anyway, for no reason whatsoever, here's the most Ukrainian thing I've ever written. thank you @yelenacrane.bsky.social for the narration!

I cannot emphasize enough that the New York City subway is not scary. It’s one of my favorite parts of living here. I grew up in the suburbs having to drive on highways everywhere and that’s way scarier

Fictional villains: my motivation involves a complex backstory around lost love and a deep yearning to be understood Real life villains: being cruel makes me feel like a big strong man

This is incredible reporting that must shock the conscience of each and every one of us.

If you leverage AI in literature review, CHECK THOSE REFERENCES. I just finished reading through a proposal on a topic that I knew well, and thus was surprised to see several papers referenced that I hadn't known of. Then when I looked them up online, I found they didn't exist. 7 fake references.

I keep saying this but... if you live in a big city and want to fight fascism, questioning what your mayor and cops are doing to unhoused people is an *excellent* start. Criminalizing people who have nothing is how nice urban liberals do fascism.

twitter wasn't an indispensable town square where common folk could speak truth to power. it was a game you played on your phone

Quite an exchange here between Judge Reyes and DOJ attorney on how "pronoun usage" affects military readiness.

The Times spoke to people being trapped inside a Panama hotel after deportation from the US and the individual stories of horror are almost too much to bear www.nytimes.com/2025/02/18/w...

Oh damn Prime actually published their failed chatgpt prompt in the description

There's a Crisis of Masculinity in this country and the only way to solve it is to let me act like a cross between a baby and a movie villain

“This is the first time a sitting U.S. president has ever served in this capacity. It is also the first time a sitting U.S. president with terrible taste and limited interest in the arts has served in this capacity.” www.vulture.com/article/dona...

"[For the Right], D.E.I...is the mere presence of a woman or nonwhite person or disabled or transgender person in any high-skilled, high-status position. And their alternative isn’t some heretofore unknown standard of merit; it is the reintroduction of something like segregation." (gift link)

Had a fever last night and inexplicably watched Three Amigos, which has a couple big laughs, real charm between Martin and short, a defeated looking Chevy chase, and heaps of 80s if-we-wink-about-racist-stereotypes-maybe-we’re-not-actually-racist? bullshit. But then while trying to sleep …

Trump appearing feeble and being sidelined while Musk basks in the spotlight is turning into a replay when Trump's relationship with Roy Cohn deteriorated after Trump got more press and Cohn got sick.
