In the words of El Dorado "it's tough to be a God" so I'm looking forward to trying Tales from the Gods by @jaimerm.bsky.social and @alastorgv.bsky.social, a solo ttrpg based on 1000 year old vampire.
comment in response to post
yep, and I am assuming someone posted a review of Tales or something since we also got a sale on backerkit like an hour before, so I am assuming someone published a review and we appeared on google

Hey, Mexican designer and writer here, from our own Indie games like tales from the gods with @jaimerm.bsky.social to freelance for dnd, pathfinder etc Recently working with other mexican creators like @caligaes.itch.io to bring his game to the usa market www.drivethrurpg.com/en/publisher...

I am curious about which parts you are using/focusing on for teaching. I want to use more videogames for my students but aside from the videogame design groups the others ( movies and animation) are more resistant to playing something for the class

Ohhg that sounds interesting

Would love to be added if it fits

Yes, i concurr. in games I think Mass Effect thinks through the implications of their technology. , I think Arcane makes a wonderful job of thinking of the implications of hextech and the relationships between the city and the access to both knowledge and technology affect the characters
comment in response to post
Another great Example is The Expanse that has the implications on how living on Earth, Mars, and the Belt shapes each character ideology and how they interact with each other. 7/

If your magic needs X resource, then there should be full wars, smuggling, and colonization around that resource. Dune does that very well with all the implications of Spice trade, smuggling, and religious input and how it affects Paul. 6/

Now you have to take all of that into the story in the relevant sections; I think part of the issue a lot of gamedevs have is that many writers want to write encyclopedias of their lore but then don't think about how the players fit the world . 5/

In this kind of world, spider silk could be a very reliable source, as is spider venom; people getting them would be an entire industry around that idea. Maybe domesticated tarantulas are considered divine because of their size and usefulness to the people living in the city 4/

Now, traveling would also be affected, and vehicles would try to be as light as possible to prevent triggering any spider silk sensor that could lead to your ambush. Bows would not be used as much as harpoons and crossbows since giang chitin would be hard to pierce. 3/

In our world, we use swords for a variety of reasons, but if 80% of the combat was against a giant spider, then weapons with bigger reach and that smash chitin would be favored to kill them. Instead of the legendary sword, now you have a legendary long hammer of X. 2/

Obviously, all of this may shift depending on your games and needs but that is what has worked in our experience

The last step is one I would advise against unless you already have experience in doing your own projects. Next year we are working as publishers of 5 different TTRPGs (one being Xeno by @caligaes.itch.io)but it has been a trip to reach this point, and there have been lots of mistakes along the way

For general self-published projects, that should suffice, but if you're on the "help others publish their games," then you need a 7. Publishing contract. Outline everything you and the author are responsible for doing, and mention the profit split, exploitation rights, etc.

6. Shipping contracts: At the very least, learn the different Incoterms because they will impact how much money you need to pay in international fees or sanity, depending on which side you choose. Advice: Sometimes, it is better to pay more and not deal with importation.
