In a very genuine way we need to salute dudes like this who are just big guys in baseball caps who say things like “I’m a Christian so I think we should care about everybody”

If only it's namesake had as bright a future.

I think a lot of people are making the mistake that there's some grand evil plan at work here when the most obvious explanation is that our rulers are powerful idiots who have never learned anything in their lives because they've never faced any consequences from their actions

People literally died from Covid while claiming it doesn’t exist. There is never going to be a wake up call for some people. A lot of people. It’s not about convincing them if they can’t be convinced. IMO it’s about overwhelming them entirely with opposition.

This is sorcery.

Whatever else emerges in time about the Delta crash in Canada, one thing is certain: the importance & amazing professionalism of flight attendants who safely evacuated the plane in a matter of seconds.

History: “Eventually the incompetent fascists invariably lose power and then society recovers in a new and stronger way” Me: “Oh, cool, so what has to happen for the spell to be broken??” History: “mmmm…well, that part is less encouraging.”

True story: a few years ago, I was being interviewed by a reporter for the New York Times. I mentioned the history of eviction statutes and how they tied into Jim Crow. The reporter asked "what's Jim Crow?" When I explained, the reporter didn't believe me and said the US wouldn't do that.

Portuguese editorial cartoonist Zez Vaz reaches back to Tiananmen Square to call on American defiance.

It is perfectly legal to know your rights and to educate others about them, too. EVERYONE in the United States, citizen or not, has rights. I will not allow this administration to intimidate us from helping you know about them. Here’s our shareable guide ⬇️: (pt. 1/2)

Evergreen writing tip from John Swartzwelder (creator of a tons of classic The Simpsons episodes, plus some very funny novels). This is from a rare interview, by Mike Sacks of The New Yorker, 2001. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...

Have you ever read a journal/letter/article in an old book and wondered about what the author thought about their place in history? Lots of people think we live in the future. I feel like I'm living in the distant past.

*slaps roof of sense of humor* you can fit SO much trauma in this bad boy

So everybody saying we don’t need to worry about any of this stuff because it’s not legal. When do those legal folks step in and turn everything back to normal? Is that happening Monday? Tuesday?

Now THIS is cool.

i wrote something about This Place for @404media.co. please read it, and then log off. 💗

Welp I’d hoped to finish up my last few decades on earth being a bit less angry. Probably not gonna happen now. Ah well.

Word of the Day is ‘bayard’ (16th century): one who has the supreme self-confidence of ignorance.

See now I’m starting to think that these people want a machine to summarize things for them because when a human does it, the human uses words like “no” and “that would hurt people” and “that’s illegal.”

I hate ai in creative fields so so much I hate it The whole idea is so wrong and mislead Creating is so human. It’s in our core. Since our very beginning. It’s about the process. It’s a bit creating. Ai takes away so much and ruins the whole process and creative thinking
