The words transparent, transport, transit are in trouble. So expect chaos with the MTA and republicans refusing to look out of windows next

I'm 💯 sure you've done this to me before with a link on the Old Place. I can't remember what it was though. I know the reaction was similar. What was it? But christ alive. I... No. My spine crushed itself in horror

Very strong "He doesn't like being told what to do by automated women in machines." vibes here

Circa 2000 I tried on a very-then hoodied dress. I got so stuck in it I sat on the floor and cried with my elbow stuck by my ear until I calmed enough to get it off. 30 mins. The other day I tried to take a sports bra off after a PT session, got stuck for 40min, only this time hand trapped too.

Smoked cheese and cherry jam, too. Honestly, it's a world out there.

It's ok - I grew up with a Portuguese best mate and her mum made us cheese and quince jam sandwiches all the time. I have some in my fridge right now for when the fancy takes me. Also, Norwegian brown cheese and lingonberry jam is great. Not alone. RIP your excellently-paletted dad x

Ooh - lifelong fan here. When this album came out, my dad had a connect with his then PA. I wrote to her and got a TON of Us merch, including her tour photosother odd bits for my GCSE project. So obviously I listened to that album until it drove a groove in my brain.

I'm 80% certain, but have no desire to check my memory here, that this is what the virtual chat rooms looked like in 1995.

You once wrote a character I immediately disliked, and when they went on to do an absolutely awful thing, current-administration-bad, I threw the book across the room. Like, without thinking. I'm still impressed.

Oh hell. I need to mute "the gorge" now because I have my kid with me day and night as it's half term holidays, so I can't watch it until Wednesday. Gah.

Pah, acetone. I remember a week we were given instructions on art degree on using solvents to transfer, and all the residents of my halls corridor were off our faces until we remembered to open a window. But it looks great!

The other week the Ukrainian nurse at my GP slid the needle in so effortlessly I didn't realise she'd done it. I hate needles, and I appreciated her skill and sneakiness. If this is real, go to hell. My hematology oncologist cousin would put you in a headlock for this.

Many years ago, I had a dream that everything was normal except the floor was made of meat. So I'm having extremely mixed feelings about this emerging from your brain. Please vacate mine soon

Um, Londoner here. "Pinch punch, first day of the month, white rabbit" White rabbit was said quickly as it meant you couldn't get pinched or punched back, "no returns" American? Nonsense.

Was that out at the same time?! Had my wisdom teeth removed under general in my home town the opening weekend, came back to uni asking who might come with me to see TPM, all refused because they'd seen it. I went alone and yeah. Not great. This may help explain some of the impact of Straight Story

Honestly, the context this is from shows the heart of the man, and the line is so damn GOOD. It has life beyond that scene, as so many of his best lines did.

One parent asks nearly weekly if kids wear PE kit on PE day. I think it's a bit There was also a staggeringly inept school letter about Eid dates and absence that created a total bunfight over the moon, which is fair to a point, except it morphed into an argument about what constitutes a cloud

I think John Scalzi has provided us a look into how Terry might have reacted, being another stand-up guy who was friends with him. He's horrified, shocked, seems disturbed to have had no idea, accepts he's going to take flak for that, but still reminding everyone not to pull focus from the women.

And I am grieving it, as I've done before. But this has an extra layer, an abyss of understanding, a pitch dark mirror of what we thought we were seeing. The women, vulnerable, that he's hurt, and that he specifically targeted. It's bleak, this. Beyond imagining. Violation is an understatement.

I doubt it, they collaborated a long time ago, & grooming isn't just for victims. Pratchett didn't stand for a wavering in morals, this would have made him go nuclear. Which in a way, it's sad we didn't get. He'd have summed it up in a single line, utterly destroying him without mentioning his name.

I hope you're right. I hope it's the MAGA equivalent of the usual posturing against China after taking office, which felt oddly traditional. This is significantly more eccentric and dangerous I hate that we are even discussing this... 😟
