Dear @ESPN. How many times do we have to go over this? Mike Montgomery is not the winningest coach in Stanford history. He is the winningest men’s basketball coach in Stanford history. It’s not “regular” basketball and women’s basketball.

The USPS is not a business. It's a well-liked--even loved--public service. Medicare and Social Security don't earn money either. They are public services. Everything does not need to be about making money. Some things are about making things work for us.

I've been building and installing Corsi-Rosenthal boxes since the southern California wildfires were really bad a few weeks back and they've made a huge difference in my indoor air quality. Really highly recommend, should have done this years ago

A thread to hear the stories of fired federal workers, many of whom provide important services that people appreciate and/or benefit from. Start with Centers for Disease Control (CDC): ‘I feel betrayed’: federal health workers fired by Trump tell of ‘nightmare’ www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

who lives in a pineapple under the sea?

Disney just laid off the entire staff that makes National Geographic Kids books. Everyone. Gone. This hits home both as a parent and as an author of an NG kids book. Please RT if you care about these books. The CEO of Disney just received a 30% raise, bringing his pay to $41.1 million.

Why? Who is this meant to be good for? Nobody wants your shit AI books, never mind 8,000 in a year. Just a terrible idea and a horrible road the publishing industry is heading down.

ICYMI, last week we published an interactive map of more than $300 billion worth of Inflation Reduction Act and bipartisan infrastructure law funding. Enter your ZIP code or city and a search radius and find projects in your area: grist.org/accountabili...

We had a ton of #snow lately so I think these will be appropriate for the weekend ❄️🌨️☃️

I heard the NEA is only considering proposals related to 1776 & the USA’s 250th birthday & I was feeling intensely patriotic, so I’m printing these really big posters inspired *directly* by the Founding Fathers The cut was carved from the masthead of a 19th century newspaper

Please read and share. But especially share with folks that might not realize how critical Section 504 is to so many people. I tried to write a simple clear explanation at the break. Gift link here: www.startribune.com/why-are-repu...

Gang, at this point I’m too disillusioned to expect all of you to mask always (even though you should), but for the love of GOD, please at least mask at airports and on planes when you travel to events!!!

I have been so excited since I found out this would be announced today! RIP any ability for me to concentrate: www.apple.com/tv-pr/news/2...

"Where is the King of America?' Thomas Paine had an answer in 1776 in "Common Sense." And it IS common sense. In America, the LAW is King. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Bjj...

I had two grant proposals up for review in the NIH Bacterial Virulence (BV) study section. It was canceled without notice this morning. Without those grants, my lab must close within a year. And so the purge of scientific research in the US continues 🤬 #MicroSky 🦠🧫🧪🧬🔬

Probationaries who have been illegally fired: this article contains information about which law firm to contact in order to join the class action suit. www.govexec.com/workforce/20...

The cancellation of these contracts wastes taxpayer money, harms students and teachers, and worsens the American economy now and in the future.

A very loud reminder from the great Toni Morrison.

🧵 on the economics of tuition at public universities. Your regular reminder that the solution to ~every problem in 🇺🇸 higher education - including now the drastic cutting of federal funding & loss of foreign students - is to fund the damn public universities like we used to: bsky.app/profile/mcop...

we don’t have wwii levels of indebtedness we know where the money went (cutting taxes for david sacks) people talk about it all the fucking time

“The thing that I can’t get over is that the actual richest man in the world directed my fucking firing. I make $50k a year and work to keep drinking water safe. The richest man in the world decided that was an expense too great for the American taxpayer.”

Our government, trying to figure out how the government works without nonwhite people and gay people and women:

Gonna drop this offer again: the flu looks brutal this year. Vaccines can help so much, but I know they can be hard. CVS will let you book an appointment online, and the will often come out to your car to give you the shot if necessary. If you need help finding one or paying, TELL US!

As an emergency manager - the cascading impacts of firing a bunch of federal employees, whose positions were each created specifically to fill an identified gap in service to the American People... This is a shortsighted decision that will have cascading impacts for generations.

You'd never know it reading basically any political commentary being offered now, but a year ago, a Marist poll found that 66% of Americans — including nearly half of non-college white men — supported mandatory DEI training. It's reliably polled well. thehill.com/blogs/blog-b...

An irony here is if you ask literally any Federal employee, they would have tons of immediately actionable ideas for how to make government more efficient. Those ideas would not include blunt smashing of public services.

Is anyone making lawn signs with a QR code that links to a website that describes all of the recent cuts to NIH, etc? I would put one in my front yard.

Epidemic intelligence service officers are the cream of the cream. They're top doctors, veterinarians & other health professionals. They sign up for a two-year training program to serve the country. Not only is terminating them bad for the country, it's also a disgraceful violation of a commitment.

Trump admin pulls hundreds of videos from CFPB’s YouTube channel

You've been murdered, who do you want on the case?

It is really short-sighted and stupid to be gutting public health and outbreak surveillance capacity right now: - H5N1 nationwide - uncontrolled - TB in Kansas - largest U.S outbreak - Measles in Texas - Expanding - Seasonal flu - Worst in 15 years - Pertussis - outbreaks in multiple states.

Any short-term savings from the funding freeze, one federal firefighter said, are likely to be eclipsed by the vast resources needed to combat even larger wildfires.

if I were writing stories about the gov "firing thousands of probationary workers" I would probably rewrite as "firing thousands of new hires -- who are often on a status called "probation" --" because I think the general understanding of "probation" is "in trouble for something they did"

They could stream on YouTube every evening at the same time. People would know that there was a daily recap and tune in when they could.

We report upon leaving the embrace of sleep: the morning light is almost tangible, something we would try to grab at like trickling tap water. We can feel it brush past us as we walk, a ghostly presence. It floods our eyes and changes them forever, something it does every day.

Good thing we won't have any forest fires to worry about this summer...
