You can freeze or cancel your membership any day of the week. It will show up on their bottom line. Don't just refuse to use it. Do not subscribe to it. Their biggest money maker is collecting the data for your searches, totally unrelated to your amazon account. Clear your cookies periodically.

Also, Oxfam Online shop is great for books, jewellery, all sorts of things. Jacksons Art Supplies is brilliant for …art supplies and Cult Pens is my favourite for stationery. Basically, that covers everything I buy!

I’ve just had my first consignment from Guardian Bookshop. Not significantly more expensive than Amazon and, if I’m honest, I’ve got enough unread books to last me until death (assuming I die at 157) so it doesn’t really matter if they take a couple of days.
