Hey #booksky #queersff I’m having a giveaway for my debut novel, The Dreaming Dead, to celebrate its first month out. All you have to do is hit that repost button. If you want to read about an elderly bisexual woman disemboweling an imperialist soldier, check it out. πŸŒˆπŸ“š πŸ’™πŸ“š πŸͺπŸ“š Jaywayward.com

Y'all, I know there's a lot of stuff in the world that I am intentionally ignoring in my depression--I mean wellness-- gardening, but my columbines and daisies are coming back, and that's really keeping me in there.

Over the weekend, I attended Romance Out West. I tend to enjoy romance as a subplot rather than the focus, but it was still great to get out and meet some great authors! Reviews and thoughts to come as I dig into my stack. πŸ’™πŸ“š

I can't say I am surprisedβ€”just a little sad.

#FantasyIndiesMarch Days 22-24 I'm doing a little weekend catch-up after catching a bug. Day 22: Lucky Snippet Though, I suppose "lucky" for the guards is not exactly "lucky" for anyone else. #writingcommunity

Today, Tears of Eternity: Foresight officially launches! A heartfelt "thank you" to everyone who helped make it happen, especially @claireashgrove.bsky.social for editing and Damonza for creating the cover. πŸ”–eBook Link: www.amazon.com/dp/B0DVH71Q1W 🏷️UBL: books2read.com/u/bz9pan [πŸ§™β€β™‚οΈπŸ’™πŸ“šπŸͺ]

#FantasyIndiesMarch Day 20: How would your characters do in the last TV show you watched? Unfortunately(?) my characters would fit surprisingly well at a White Lotus. Lee is a local who tourists abuse, Ostara scams guests, Rejnar plots a murder, and Arthur is a newly wealthy guest mid-breakdown.

#FantasyIndiesMarch Day 19: Which character has the worst luck? Well, that's just, like, a matter of perspective, isn't it? (The answer is Lee.)

#FantasyIndiesMarch Day 18: Prophecy Professor of Divination Arthur Wells creates all sorts of prophecies, but they come with their limitations. In his own words... #writingcommunity

#FantasyIndiesMarch Day 17: Adjectives to Describe WIP I'm terrible at describing my own work, so I will let adjectives from early readers do it for me: Fun, Mysterious, Gritty, & Fast-Paced. #writingcommunity

#FantasyIndiesMarch Day 16: Rumors in WIP It is rumored that the Minarin Rebellion leader, General John Umber, was arrested in Corinne and executed at Rosewood. Travel restrictions through the plains cities have been reduced as a result. #writingcommunity

#FantasyIndiesMarch Day 15: Magic Snippet As a diviner, Arthur's magic is tedious. It requires extensive research and can give vague directions that even he struggles to interpret. #writingcommunity

Every so often, the horror of realizing I sent an old, typo-addled copy of my book to advanced reviewers hits me again. It's probably just that Tears of Eternity: Foresight comes out next week, and that's seven whole days for me to mess something else up. #amwriting #writingcommunity #writesky

#FantasyIndiesMarch Day 13: Birthdays My elves celebrate their birthdays on the closest solstice or equinox to their birth. My humans are a mixed bag; some do, and some don't. This depends on their societal standing, religion, and broader culture, which means most people don't. #writingcommunity

I am late for this party and catching up for 9-12 in this thread. Day 9 of #FantasyIndiesMarch Humor in WIP Ostara's insults are fun to write but are not without their consequences. β€œDear kin, sometimes I have a way with words; other times they have their way with me." #amwriting #sff #fantasy

This past week we said goodbye to Pip, my writing buddy, meeting interrupter, and accidental editor. Unsparing in her use of the space bar, she was known to delete entire chapters while unattended. Fourteen years together and all I want is one more day of her sitting on my lap.

A small snippet from Tears of Eternity: Foresight's WIP sequel, Remembrance. Technically, at 200k words, its draft is complete, but I'm a reviser...which means my work has only begun. #amwriting #WIPsnips #WritingCommunity #WriteSky

My therapist read my book. This session is gonna be lit. #writesky #indieauthors #amwriting #fantasywriting

Tears of Eternity: Foresight releases March 21st! LoveReading called it "A marvelous read," and "a great recommendation for all fantasy readers." Pre-orders available at B&N, Kobo, & most ebook marketplaces. Paperbacks coming soon. Cover by Damonza. #indieauthor #πŸ’™πŸ“š #indiebooks #sff #fantasysky

Between PC and the Switch, I have over 1200 hours logged in Stardew Valley. I had never played Junimokart until the Mr. Qi quest and I never, ever want to play it again.

Reminder to comment on that art post or fanfic, and drop a review of that book. Telling creatives what you think, even if it’s just a one line sentence, truly does make a difference! And I don’t just mean β€˜engagement’. I mean it will make their day. Tell someone when you love their work 🀍

For Valentine's Day, I offer my review of Holding Out for a Hero by Maria Shield, a Greek mythology-inspired romance. It's a fun, adventure read that gets quickly into the spice. 5/5, even with not being a romance reader. Available on Amazon. #indieauthor #indiebooks #romance #booksky #bookreview

I have so many questions about where people are supposed to obtain their own blood bags. Showing up at a hospital with a gallon of blood in a plastic milk jug is not something had on my dystopia bingo card.

My author proof copy arrived this week! While holding it, my hands shook for a while. Untold hours of effort went into crafting this world and it is so close to being released into the wild. It is so unreal. Official release date March 21st. #sff #indieauthor #indiebooks #writingcommunity #fantasy

I already posted about Grieving Gold by McDaniel, but wanted to give more context as I get into the rhythm of regularly reviewing indie books this year. Overall, a recommend. Very interesting setting. #booksky #fantasy #sff #indiebooks #indieauthor #bookreview

Them: β€˜So what’s your book marketing strategy?’ Me:

Howdy there! I am going to be regularly reviewing indie books through 2025. DM me if you would like your book considered. I prefer to read fantasy but am open to other genres. Upcoming reviews: Grieving Gold by McDaniel, The Wishmaker by Sofianiuc #indiebooks #indieauthor #sff #writingcommunity

I just finished Grieving Gold by Daniel McDaniel! Fascinating world-building drawing from Aztec inspiration, a nice deviation from more Euro-centric swords and sorcery environments. With plotlines starting to connect, I'd like to see where this goes as a series. #booksky #indiebook #fantasybooks

Vibing today. Book 2: Remembrance will focus on community building between humans and elves. I have about 6 scenes left to write in draft 1, and doing this is, admittedly, just me avoiding writing an epic poem aimed at children. #WritingCommunity #writers #authors #AmWriting #WriteSky #fantasy #sff

Hearing BtB Robert Evans fail to pronounce "dirigible" a half dozen times has intense Hollywood starlet Rich Evans energy. Are we *sure* they aren't related?

Day 3 of waiting for tech support to determine why my epub files cannot be downloaded to validate my ebook's formatting. I'm not complaining, I'll wait for a solution, but oof. I am so tempted to delete all the files and redo the upload from scratch. #indieauthor #debutauthor #writingcommunity
