I wish I were half as good at anything else as I am at growing bone spurs. #health

You don't need to get within 20 feet of a cow to know that cows sleep lying down like normal people -- you can see them doing it from a car driving past. If they are standing up they are not asleep, they are just chilling, waiting to kick a douchey suburban cowboy to death for trying something.🐄

The last 24 hours was without a doubt the most insane travel day I have ever had. I drove from Tacoma to Oakland, and in those hours I was sideswiped by a joyriding car thief, startled by a deer in a rest stop bathroom, locked out of my accommodations, and helped a lady give birth at a rest stop.

Moose has decided that when I am in an online class, she needs to perch behind me and attack my head if I talk. This has added an extra frisson of excitement to Portuguese class.

Apparently the one in Alameda is staying.

WIRED is tracking numerous reports of Musk-related shenanigans across the federal govt. We're looking for fed employees open to discussing the activity they're seeing or to help confirm other reports. Anonymity offered. Please use @signal.org (contact dell.3030). Do not use work networks/devices.

In my 20+ year abusive marriage, my abuser frequently sabotaged my efforts at weight loss and getting in shape. He didn't want me (he had multiple affairs and physically rejected me over and over) but he didn't want me to be wanted by others, either.

This is, in part, why folks like Sherman and Sheridan advocated for the total destruction of the Confederacy. They were fully aware that anything short of its complete destruction and the prosecution of former Confederates would lead to the maintenance of the ideology of the CSA.

Hello, peacock!

Sunday knitting time. #knitting

At conception all embryos are female. Maleness happens (when it does) around 6 weeks in. So OK. Everybody is a woman now. Also, some people are born without the organs required to produce those cells, or with both sets of organs. What are they? Stay in school past the fifth grade, folks.

The fig is ready for spring. It looks like I need to invest like 4000 hours to get the rest of the garden weeded and cleaned up.

some buds act like it is so hard to love but it is so easy. you just do nothing. in the absence of all things, we just love. it is what we are built to do. just strip off everything else, all the baggage, and love is underneath

I'm uncomfortable with the inevitable "his work was always crap" because it seems to say "you can tell who the predators are by how well they write" and ... no no you absolutely cannot, that's the whole point.

We had heavy fog a couple days ago and this is one of my favourite photos of it.

Want to learn to spin? Not just how to use a spindle or spinning wheel, but how to make the yarn in your mind? This is for you. I took the equivalent of this class for roughly ten times the price and it was worth every penny, so this is a fantastic deal and a great way to support an amazing artist.

16.8% of the US is over 65, and I'd venture that most have at least one medical condition. 57 million people is a lot to just write off as expendable.

BREAKING: Louisiana reports 1st human death from H5N1 bird flu in the U.S.

2024: - In my car in the parking lot outside my parents' apartment - In my car outside my office - In my car in my driveway Places where I pause in transition, and the heaviness of it all just bears down on me. An improvement over 2023 where it was literally anywhere I was.

This is such a powerful observation about why ableism is so inherent in U.S. society. From A Disability History of the United States by Kim Nielsen.

This is my Jimmy Carter story. When I was ~6 years old I apparently asked my dad too many questions about why the days of the week were in the order they were in, as only a 6 year old can, and in exasperation he told me the president had made them that way. Thanks, President Carter.

I worked for a dot-com that got BOUGHT BY DISNEY and this biurry line is a feature of the system.

came up with a great new slogan for snacks

Traveling with this crew is incredibly stressful. We lost the wild autist in Frankfurt airport when he wandered off the plane and got on a bus without us, which sent the anxious autist into a tailspin. (We eventually tracked him down at passport control) 1/

Don't know who made this, but I dig it.
