I think that's the goal. Accelerationist- burn it down so we can rebuild in our image - it'll be a utopia!
fucking insane.

Yea, what can be done by exec order can just as easily be UNdone by one.
Though the actual rebuilding and rehiring and all that is a bit more complex, but still.

1930's Germany, Roman republic to roman empire, so on. They take power, and they do not release it.

I don't understand why anyone thinks the mid terms, 2 years from now, will still matter.

problem is a lot of active military and veterans, as well as police forces, support them, while a lot of progressive folks don't ever want to resort to violence, let alone actually touch a gun.
Well played twist, that one.

Heh. Not at 3 am! But I did play the demo through. Enjoyed it. I'm wishlisting. Very intriguing story being laid down. Nice art style too.

Dialog mechanic with immense potential? Well I guess I know what I'm doing with my ...however long it takes to play the demo.

I'd play it. I'd love to help it come to reality too.

Classic musicals? The Court Jester is a favorite of mine, as well as Singin' in the Rain.
And of course there's The Princess Bride.
The original "princess sneaks away" story, Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn. Black and white, but wonderful.

As a happy owner of all your work printed thus far (I think) I'm glad to have one already signed - Agent to the Stars, that first limited edition of 2000. One of my favorite books. The first time I read it, I went through the entire thing on your site in one 8 hour sitting.

Well, that explains a lot.

My last road trip was The Dispatcher 1 and 2. Love your work.

It's great on long drives. I also found myself with no driving ahead of me, but an audiobook to finish. So, I would just lay in bed, lights out, and hit play. Made for wonderful visualization.

Absolutely the look on my face right now, but with a 45 degree head tilt too.

A magnetically accelerated guillotine. That's just terrifying.
I love it!

Oh right the capture stuff. I honestly didn't use that tactic much. Super cool though.

Yep, didn't on my first attempt, but found out you had to. Glad the remaster auto gathered when you won.

That's how I ended up playing it, amazon prime gaming via twitch. Really good game. Not too long, but super good. watch out for the music puzzles - those were *really* hard for me.

"Kharak is burning." Even now, all these years later, even typing that sent chills up my spine and triggered goosebumps. *Such* an amazing game.

my older brother is currently dealing with Decrums. I'm roughly 12 years younger and have about 2 dozen of the lumps that I know of. Not painful, uh, yet. sigh.

yea, huge problem for me. I'm pretty talented in a few different areas, but absolutely hate promoting myself. This has resulted in significant hardships, while less talented peers excel.

Oh well, that's an easy fix. Springs and hydraulic or pneumatic pressure still work plenty well! We could even make it so the condemned doesn't have to lie down anymore, with that. Sit up lad, look justice in the eye.

The key difference is Gump had compassion and empathy in spades that made up for it.

Reading things like this is fascinating to me. I have the ring script tattooed on my left forearm, and most of my oldest friends are from an old Yahoo LOTR chatroom. I deeply love the movies, yet I haven't watched them in over a decade, and I too, am a millennial.

About 6 years ago, i slipped on some ice, on concrete stairs, and landed with my lower back on the edge. Thankfully i can still walk, but let there be no doubt those milliseconds of slipping and being airborne only to crash down hard were utterly changing in more ways than I will probably ever know.

Yea, sure Bob from accounting, go be a welder for a day. A plumber. Electrician? try construction worker - I'll make it easy on ya and say finish carpentry, so you're indoors.
Not to disrespect accountants, honestly - that's an important job in it's own right. But none of this shit is simple.

The transition would be wildly complex - not because we couldn't "just" adopt medicare or a variation on it, but because the medical insurance industry employees 100,000's if not millions of people who would suddenly be out of work. It'd be a giant cluster for years.
Worth doing though, for sure.

Frankly, I'll be surprised if any physical store that isn't clothing, food, or other "I need this now"/"I need to see it in person" stuff lasts that long. And I say that as a 43 year old. Why would I want to go to a store? A restaurant, sure! Place to do something, with people? Heck yes. Shop? no.

Nearly broke my ankle turning right once! See, I was carrying an empty cardboard box down a driveway and pivoted at the bottom, and when I planted my right foot, my right *leg* continued it's forward momentum and... Well, the next part involved some VERY loud swearing and a trip to the ER.

This assumes I could actually name a signle, all time favorite game. Trust me when I say I have tried and failed at this many, many times. There's far too many games I've played and loved, and all for many different reasons.

Heist 1 was a favorite of mine. Really enjoyed the Steamworld Dig games too. The demo for Build seemed good as well. Sadly I cannot afford it at the moment.
Someday!

Very well said. I'd be interested to try game writing as I love storytelling and all the world building details. I'm one of those guys who, even in Doom 2016, reads EVERYTHING.
My background in QA and lack of personal side projects would make that a problem, admittedly. Maybe volunteer work...

the amount of joy an excitement, memories good and meaningful and life lessons taught to me through out all the books of yours I've heard over the last twenty odd years is more gift than anyone could ask for. Just keep doing what you do.

I can still manage intimacy thanks to a spinal cord stimulator implant, but sitting or standing without back support, say on a bench or bar stool? Walking around a convention or theme park all day? hiking, walking *half a mile?* Not so much.
Invisible injury it may be, but sure ain't harmless.
