Pretty sure my private school in Atlanta taught us about that in 5th grade. I remember being told he shot pet dogs and being very upset about that.

I refer to my older cousins (my cousins once or twice removed) as Cousin Elizabeth or Cousin Edna. A naked name sounds impolite when speaking with that generation. I don’t know if that’s a Georgia quirk, or not.
