Geek, nerd, dweeb, dork... I've been called a lot worse over time. Avid SF/Horror fan on screen & in print. Comics, video games & rock music, too. Too old for my own good.

My wife LOVES Yves Rocher products, but they're very difficult to obtain in the UK since Brexit. A shame.

Really looking forward to an audiobook of the next in the series. Here's hoping...

Perhaps it was an error of judgement in deciding to listen to something so scary on my walks home from work. All alone in the dark at 6:00 a.m., with terror pumped directly into my ears. I may never be the same again.

Blowing in pretty strong gusts here in Nottinghamshire...

I can think of at least six boozers within a 10 mile radius of me just as you described...

So many replies. So many without any sense of humour or irony. I thought we left all this behind on X.

Well... I can't arch my back (thanks to a fractured vertebrae), and my hair couldn't be considered luscious, but I DO let out a satisfied sigh as my socks come off at the end of a day. It might be a guy thing...

I've always enjoyed this film, but the original story is so much better. Perhaps one day we'll get a more accurate depiction of the story.

Every 45 minutes? Geez, I thought it was bad being over 55 and needing to go every 3 hours...

Aren't you glad you came here, then?

Are these still available somewhere? I would like to see the 70's and 80's collections.

That second picture is giving me a serious Arthur Dent vibe...

I'm assuming there's a high demand & heavy traffic at the moment. I've been getting a 404 Not Found error message when I try to buy the audiobook.

He's definitely a part of it, since he was a big star on the indie scene back in 2018, but saying this 5 years after the creation of AEW is kind of egotistical. It's like Logan Paul or Bad Bunny claiming responsibility for all WWE's recent successes.

Not so much joy as vindication... Some time ago I hurt my back. I've had a lot of time off sick from my job and been told repeatedly that the pain was "all in my head". After an MRI they discovered I'd fractured a vertebrae which never healed properly. Knowing there's a real cause is a huge relief!

I remember seeing this in the cinema on its release and it blew me away. Only one thing spoiled it for me: the ornithopter's wings didn't flap when it flew. They just sort of folded up on landing. Definitely wanted a weirding module...

There are at least 3 (probably 4) complete generations that have grown up without direct knowledge of The Beatles. A better comparison might be with The Rolling Stones - who simply won't go away, they just keep getting more wrinkly.

But... aren't you working from home?

Same. I still pop back now and then to the X place, but it's getting less frequent and I still feel the need to disinfect after visiting.

It WAS meant as a compliment. Sorry if I confused you.

Glad you enjoyed yourselves. That place looks WAAAY to upmarket for me though.

I have the box set in the rear of the picture. It stands proudly on a shelf in my bedroom. First discovered the Big Red Cheese with DC's reissues in the 70's. Loved the character ever since.

A really beautiful photo.

I'm not aware of a more derogatory use of "skeets"... I always think of Booster Gold's mechanical minder.

Right now, EVERYONE is safe on here. We simply have to keep it that way. Not an easy task I know, given human nature, but let's try, eh?

No less likely than the other announced positions...

I gave in to vanity some 30 years ago & tried contacts. Putting them in was no problem. My vision was great. Getting them out again was a nightmare! What you have to remember is there is NO SENSATION on the eyeballs. It's only pressure. Avoid long fingernails and you'll be fine.

As I recall from my own setup, audio is controlled with a simple tick in a box. And some iPlayer content is still region locked, probably because of international broadcast deals already in place - such as Dr. Who.

As an alternative to the firestick... Do you have a laptop with an HDMI output on it? If yes, buy a fairly long (3 to 5 metre) cable & plug the laptop into the TV. It should treat it like a 2nd monitor. Install any VPN on the laptop, and you're off!

That was much more complementary than I anticipated. Granted, the film does a good job presenting the vampires as a threat, the performances are solid, but some things feel off. The town seems to empty overnight. This might be due to the runtime, but it feels rushed to me.

It's an acquired taste. It's effectively a political drama set in a futuristic dystopia. Blake is an escaped political prisoner who tries to start a rebellion. Ambitious stories made on a 1970s BBC budget. Lots of wobbly scenery and dodgy SFX.

There are scars with stitch marks on the arms, head and torso, and what looks like bolts sticking out each side of the neck... This doesn't suggest Hulk to me...

Wasn't there a TV adaptation of Childhood's End a few years back? I seem to remember it starting well and then falling off a cliff. Let's hope for better with Rama...

Well, in that case, can we hope for reprints of John Ostrander & Del Close's Wasteland? I LOVED that series!

Doom (2005) - another poorly received game adaptation, but I like it. It's not in any way subtle... but it's Doom, so what did you expect. An early rôle for Dwayne Johnson, who swears more in this than all his other movies combined. 4/4

Borderlands (2024) - yes, THAT one. It was OK. It looked pretty, Jamie Lee Curtis & Cate Blanchett looked bored throughout, dialogue was poor, the plot was obvious; spotted the twist a mile off. Found it on YouTube! 3/?
