I just don't think I'm going to finish the last game before the end of the year (Nine Sols—I'm loving it), so this is the list. Overall I had a great time playing video games this year. I've never been so consistent playing games and seeking out new ones that looked fun and I'm excited to keep it up

This was a fun one to end the year! It's a classic for a reason. I was a little surprised how short the testing chamber section was and how long the road to Glados was, but overall it was fun! I had some trouble moving in first person, but that's a me problem, this was still a fun game!

the overworld and if I had to go through those snake girls one more time I was going to LOSE IT! But, I really enjoyed the four dungeons and the final boss was very fun if easy. I'm still very excited for the rest of the Shantae games but this one was oof

This was my one oof of the year. I get big fomo if I don't play games in order, and I knew I wanted to play the rest of the Shantae games (and still do, don't worry) but I wouldn't until I played this one. I knew this game was rough-er going in and it definitely was rough. I could not STAND (cont.)

Plus the boss fights were great for a game without any other fighting. And beautiful. Writing this all out i talked myself out of putting it just in the “fun” tier it’s too good, no offense to the fun games

Anytime I got stuck, I put the game down and when I came back the answer almost instantly came to me. It was a series of non-stop aha moments. My only complaint was how short the game was, I would’ve played hours and hours more. Plug me into those worlds in worlds in worlds in worlds in worlds in wo

Damn this was a good game! I’ve never been the biggest puzzle game fan, but my bf gave it to me for my bday and I have to say it was amazing. The way new mechanics were introduced and the puzzles got more complex never made it seem hard, even though the last few puzzles were mind-bending (cont.)

oh so NOW you decided to acknowledge differences in media coverage for people of different races who've committed crimes. now? just now....? ok

to mention it was super cute! I loved opening up each area and seeing how they looped back around on themselves and then completely opened up. I'm still poking away at the post-game content while playing other games It's just too fun! I would play this game again and again, reap me now small reaper!

This one rounds out my top 3 games this year. The combat was sooooo satisfying and getting into the rhythm of dodging enemies, sending projectiles back at them, and using spells was very satisfying. The bosses and mini bosses were all challenging but each felt fair and very achievable. Not (cont.)

exhilarating way as the second one. In addition, the main way difficulty ramped up was just "more enemies" which led to many frustrating deaths and a lot of skipping combat as fast as I could. When this game hit, it's among the best I played this year, but it was just as often equally frustrating

up almost too fast and I could never keep straight which quest was the main quest, and what were side quests. It was almost the anti-Bo, I wanted less content instead of all the DLC. There also weren't really any other great bosses that used the unique movement in the fight in such an (cont.)

Out of every game I played this year, this one gave me the most frustration. There was an early navigational puzzle that made me feel so smart solving, and then the second boss was maybe my single favorite gaming memory of the year, but the rest of the game crashed OUT. The two maps opened (cont.)

speedruns and give this game some more time. Which is my biggest complaint: I wanted it to be twice as big and twice as long. But better to want more than less. Overall just pure fun!
