I just feel so powerless.

I couldn’t run off somewhere to meltdown either. Eventually, fighting off a total shutdown, I managed to get a great locksmith. He turned up 15 minutes after calling and got me back in within 5 minutes. What a hero. He didn’t even bother with small talk either 🤣. Perfect

Even though I despise phone calls, I called a locksmith. After than hour, he decided to call me and complain for the fact there was no where to park outside. As if I was meant to have planned for his arrival. I was trapped for 1.5 hours with neighbours coming in and out.

It’s a horrible feeling! Glad you got in okay! I locked myself out of my flat, leaving the key inside. I also couldn’t leave the corridor outside my door as my keys include the electric fob needed to get back through the building doors. So I was stuck.

Thanks Naomi! I’ve gone with ADHD people or ADHD individuals - with a footnote at the beginning explaining. 🙂

I also agree entirely with the point you make about “with neurodiversity”. In many cases people are substituting “with autism” for “with neurodiversity”, so they haven’t learned anything. There’s no understanding of the model, i.e., using identity-first language and the social model of disability.

Totally! Don’t get me wrong - I do always say neurodivergent or neurodivergence, or autism or ADHD, etc - if I specifically mean those. Just “neurodiversity” and “neurodiverse” so often used incorrectly with - sometimes - the best intentions.

I’ve noticed myself avoiding the word “neurodiverse” even when it could be correctly applied to what I’m saying. I don’t think people will be able to recognise the difference without explanation, so I don’t use it at all. Shame really.

Very pleased that you feel it’s shifting! Thank you! 😊

Agreed (as a new AuDHD PhD myself). It feels that healthcare/medicine research is very slowly starting to turn to lived autistic experience, after a few pioneers have led the way. I’m writing a paper on this at the moment. I also hope other types of neurodivergence will see the same evolution.

It’s a very good question.

🤣🤣. Love it. I live 15 minutes walk from an IKEA so you can imagine how often I’ve been there so far. The coffee table in the photo is from there. I told myself it’ll do the job until I can upgrade it, but I have no doubt I’ll be the same as you.

I’ve started a radiography one. It’s pretty small at the moment though.
