Hello! This is another quick proof-of-life post. Because I have previously been loud in these spaces, I want to mention that my social media silence during a fascist coup does not signify resignation or passivity. My political focus right now is 100% on in-person organizing. 1/2

Hello! This is just a quick proof-of-life post. Social media is not where I want to be these days, but I hope all you brilliant, beautiful people are as well as can be.

Hello friends, both old and new! We are a Buffalo-based non-profit which organizes with multiracial fenceline neighborhoods in WNY for environmental justice and climate justice. We have a lot of work ahead of us - please support our work, and if in the area, join us! www.cacwny.org/become-a-mem...

In Buffalo we have a weekly Slow Roll where hundreds of cyclists get together, bike through different neighborhoods, hear from organizers working in those neighborhoods, and then eat pizza and drink beer. It’s glorious

This is me too. I desperately wish this election had gone the other way, but I have been organizing since 2014 and I feel ready to face what comes with my beautiful and indomitable community

📣🔥 @haymarketbooks.bsky.social just made ten of its ebooks free to download to build power and fight back together. #OrganizingSky The list includes @prisonculture.bsky.social, @olufemiotaiwo.bsky.social and @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social 👇 www.haymarketbooks.org/blogs/517-te...

I'm speaking tomorrow at a public forum for the No New Jail campaign here in Buffalo. I love these meetings--I always get to meet cool new people who turn up and we have so much fun envisioning what we could spend money on in our community instead of a new jail. Link below to sign up if you're local

"If you build it, they will come" -- this is why anti-authoritarian praxis should include resisting more policing and police structures like prisons, jails, and "cop cities." We should scrutinize the surveillance tech agencies have because they will use it. Dismantle fusion centers.

All of you out there who care for other people (professionally and/or in your personal lives) despite an America that tells you not to... I see you. I am grateful for you. You are what brings meaning and love even in the darkness.

Hey, a whole lot of people from Buffalo have followed me over the past 24 hours, which is very cool. Hello and welcome! A couple of things you might want to know about me: 1. I'm not a Bills fan (sorry), and I don't post about them 2. I am a feminist, and I do post about that

No one really believes there is. The grievance is that the second wave’s advances have been too persistent, and that women have become more emboldened to discuss sexism in their lives. The Republicans want to reverse this, making sexism more potent and its pain less speakable. That’s their appeal.

A prediction no one will like: I do not think empowering "blue" law enforcement is going to work very well. Turns out 1) most law enforcement isn't even close to "blue" and 2) most law enforcement wants to deport people; they said so at the DNC. www.liberalcurrents.com/a-practical-...

A question I'm going to be considering today and for the foreseeable future: As universities are captured by the fascist movement, what will we build in our communities to replace their vital functions?

It's okay to put on your jammy jams and go to bed right now.

I genuinely don’t have any blame or recriminations to share, and I’m not angry at anyone who wants to stop fascism in whatever way they can. Yes, we should learn from mistakes, but the fault for the rise of fascism lies with the fascists. Always and forever.

Because some kinds of terror are better than others, and Halloween is forever—also, apparently, Election Day—here is a list of 31 ghost stories and horror stories, one for each day of October. Usual caveats: no particular order, I am leaving out many favorites, etc, etc.

My baby sister is sending me pictures of her baby to help me with my stress today. And I am grateful but also thinking about how terrified I was six months ago when she was pregnant in a red state.

Anybody worked with a menopause specialist? Would love to hear about your experiences.

We've reached the point where even library workers are getting banned from libraries on campus. www.thecrimson.com/article/2024...

This year has really brought my hatred of the Electoral College to a new level. Among so many other things, lots of us are essentially waiting for a second abortion decision, except this time it's not being delivered by SCOTUS, but by our fellow citizens in other states.

I volunteer with an organization that is running an independent campaign supporting Harris in addition to our usual campaigns. I don't do a ton of phonebanking myself (I am terrible at it), but I'm taking stuff off of other volunteers' plates so they can focus on this election for now.

Yes I said yes I will yes get you in this 2022 GMC Sierra today

If “admin is forcing” AI on you, I offer you advice from one of my favorite colleagues: “Never go out of your way to make your manager’s bad idea work.” I also offer you the courage with which she said that to me, her manager at the time.

Starting to see LIS folks use the phrase "responsibly implementing" when it comes to AI/genAI in libraries and archives, and once again, there is nothing responsible about a plagiarism machine that relies on stolen and personal data and is speeding up the climate crisis.
