I could see this if the complaint is not their absence in genre (an inaccurate description) but that when critics/sellers see those techniques they automatically reject the genre descriptor for the title/author and instead call it literary fiction (to be fair, some genre authors have done this too)

drive had nothing to do with Tomlinson, Wilson shouldn’t have thrown 2-yard pass to Harris. Time > yards in that situation. Then, never should have scrambled. And the discombobulating effect of that scramble led to a rushed play and the sack Two mistakes you don’t expect from a senior QB.

Here’s my review of the first book in this series where you can see two pages with some text to get an idea. I’m thinking 6 is young for independent reading of these but you can judge.
