Aspiring Game Dev. Bear with me, I'm still learning. Get it? Bear? No? It's cool, I made the same joke before and nobody laughed then either.
I (try to) build games, I make some 3D models, and I make music from time to time.

Picked this up on launch day but have been entirely too swamped to crack into it with the attention it deserves just yet. Really excited to just shut off my phones and spend an evening with it, probably this weekend or next.

Oh the aesthetic is gorgeous.

I know how that can be. I don't dislike relearning things by any means, but I'm also just stubborn. I still primarily use blender 2.79 for god sake lmao. One day I'd love to crack in to Godot but I gotta wrap up all my 12 other projects in what I'm used to first I guess lol

I've been back on a Fear and Hunger 2 kick lately and that art style is just mesmerizing to me. Anybody that can hand paint or do pixel art like that just ugh. Love it.

One of these days for sure I'll finally load up Godot and check it out. Everything I've seen built with it looks so charming.

Idk if I really like him yet or not. Though this kinda feels like the natural progression of the first enemy I ever made back in 2018. So I guess welcome back to life Squeltchin, my old new son.

Full disclosure I meant to post this weeks ago but this game has been a slogfest. Well, not really the game, more like my internal dialogue has been a slogfest. "Is this good enough? Do I like this? Do I really want this level to flow like this?" etc etc.

You ever spend a lot of time with a project to the point where you hate it and feel like it's stupid only to loop back around into loving it and having a lot of faith in the idea or am I having a big ol' psychosis

I feel like I heard my graphics card creaking just looking at these images. Maybe it's time for an upgrade.

I kinda want the architecture to be as if a lot of it was built by some guy with a Lowes card, slapchop connecting older things that were already there. Unprofessional and maybe not aesthetically pleasing, but functional. Old 1700's North American stronghold bought by a 1980's Cult leader.

I have a project like this that I go back to from time to time. A sort of free space where I never ask myself "will people like this?" or "will this sell?" Incredibly freeing. God speed, I hope it brings you some comfort.

Haven't had a chance to really dig into it yet but from what I've played, man, just, good lord. That atmosphere is THICK. I knew it would be good. Not many developers I buy every game without question, but you never disappoint. It's also just been really cool to watch your style evolve and grow.

Relatable. I've gotten used to scheduling my time where if I think it'll be an hour task, I'm not gunna see results I like for 3 to 4 hours lol. For what it's worth, it looks great! Super effective at adding a layer to the atmosphere!

When I finish the project I'm currently working on, I think it's finally time to sit down and finish Christmas Candy. The good news is, if this game works, all the systems for Christmas Candy will work as well. Feels pretty exciting to think about since I've been working on CC for... omg, 6 years?

For all the things I appreciate about Steam, it is kinda obnoxious that I'll go to the game page for a game like, say, Fear and Hunger, and in the "Games Like This" section it's just Fallout 4 and Call of Duty.

Oh I feel that, I'm in a similar boat. I'll work on a project until I get to something I don't know how to do, or I'll find something I'm unhappy with my current methods of achieving, so I'll shelf it and work on something smaller scale until it too balloons lol. I just want my stuff to be concrete

For the record the real reason I want to abandon my current project is because I've been trying to write an inventory system I'm happy with for the past like, three months. For what it's worth, I have about three inventory systems that work perfectly fine I just hate them lmao

I wish you could have seen the smile on my face fade into confusion when my eyes went from the skeleman to the background photos on the wall. 10/10, was expecting neither hot Shrek nor Scary Movie 3 Aliens.

I am deeply intrigued by how many of these artists I've never heard of. Looks like I've got some homework to do here.

Those of you putting these lists together are doing the work of the Gods. I feel like an old man trying to figure out a new social media platform in 2024

Side note I still don't really know what I'm doing with the whole hashtag thing. I never got the hang of it in old twitter, then that one dude bought twitter and I heard they nuked hashtags, but now I'm here and they seem to help me find cool stuff again, idk I'm 33 dude idk this ish.
