Every comic book retailer will say this to you. Pre-orders are vital because they show interest and enthusiasm, and that leads to sales. There are entire companies that we order nothing from because they get no pre-orders. This is why Pros keep going on about pre-orders so much.

Oh, no problem, happy to help! Starting small is always a good idea! Zines, anthologies, group projects are great. Something low-stakes you can print 100 copies of and have a con table for $10. It's important your first attempts give you wiggle room to mess up, because you WILL. It's normal!

people who use goodreads: jeff bezos owns goodreads and if you want a better alternative there is a black woman owned company called storygraph that you can use to replace it. you can transfer all of your data from goodreads to storygraph and have your mind be free of trumpie jeff bezos! win win. 💙
