I'm losing it rn because their supporters keep repeating that "actually USAID are shredding documents to keep them from DOGE"... instead of DOGE destroying everything in its path. I continue to be so alarmed and concerned at the alternate reality they live in

aren't these programs already mostly operating as understaffed call centers? Last I knew, there was not a good way to manage your benefits online or in person?? This sounds like it will make it impossible for people to access benefits

Idk, how bad do you want me sounds like it was written to parody Taylor swift (still better than any swift song, but like, not comparable to garden of eden or killlah imo)

There's a special kind of dissonance for people who claim to be "earth mother" spiritual folks but don't bat an eye at the existential horror of genocide and anti-intellectual, anti-science, anti-environmental destruction of our land. The selfishness of spiritual individualism is astounding.

The end result of trans people identifying themselves as they are, being framed as "fraud" with this as precedent, will criminalize being trans and presenting identity documents in the US in other situations.

This dynamic of the Jedi gatekeeping their knowledge and resources and working "for the greater good" directly influences public distrust of the order and their eventual downfall, as well as is a central gray moral plot point in a lot of the shows. The Jedi as colonizers/enforcers in a gilded palace

But also there's something to be said about the Jedi hoarding the apparent wealth of knowledge of the universe for their own order, and the library serving the Order rather than the public. (As a librarian, I'm also noticing a lack of public libraries etc in Star Wars as well.)

Yeah, like, as far as we know, the largest collection of both written (data tapes) and holo records exists within the Library at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. (shoutout to Jocasta Nu, for protecting their list of force-sensitive children from the imperials) The library is basically destroyed -

At Attin is a case where it appears to be like, upper middle- upper class society, but the communications are highly controlled and the people there are firmly contained in a bubble of routine and ignorance of the rest of the galaxy. This contrasts "poor" & isolated areas of the outer rim.
