Meanwhile, anthropologist & anarchist Erica Lagalisse has worked and written extensively on how the origins of communist and anarchist movements have their roots in religious and occult thinking, that's since been disavowed in the move towards secularisation.

there are examples of this. Ernst Bloch's writing sought to rehabilitate "utopian" thinking as a form of "esoteric marxism," while pushing marxists to take seriously fascism's ability to ensare desire through the use of myth and narrative as more than mere "irrationalism".

No, they don't. I think one of the reasons something like Xenofeminism is both so exciting yet so scary is that it embraces technologies while blowing a lot of essentialisms and binary diomorphisms apart. This runs counter to reactionary currents, especially in the left.

bascially, the whole notion of "Vision," politics-as-emotions, narrative, or having a story other than "The system works, provided smart people like us are in charge of it" is something that we need to start working on NOW & it's gonna take more than having a "joe rogan for the left".

While Fisher did have faults as a thinker, he realised that the negativitiy of "capitalist realism" & "Ghosts of my life" had to be overcome theough the creation of "futures" that had a libidinal affect on people, something that he was leaning into with his "postcapitalist desire" lectures

while i personally find the current surge of NRx/reactionary modernism online today moronic, spiteful, & incurious, its power to develop mythic narratives that look towards a '*future* is more compelling to ppl than "we need to put the breaks on everything/we're all gonna die" doomerism.

In Le's course, he will be examining the idea of "the slow cancellation of the future" & where the philosophies of the future are coming from. In particular he looks at how technology (i.e. the right) is leaping ahead through AI & Seasteading to critique all current forms of liberal "governance".

in Ganz's piece he talks abt how the right in the US have shifted from a Gramscian to a Sorelian phase - it's not about "facts" & "logic" any more. it's about the wholesale deployment of narrative myth that acts as a powerful libidinal force outside of any quantifiable "truth".

in "12 rules for what" the presenters (pressimistically) argue that while the Left can still mobilie & have an impact there is a dearth of narrative building of what the future can look like outside of vague terms like "degrowth" "solarpunk" etc. All utopian drive have been ceded to the tech right.

the thing that ties all 3 links is the idea of the creation of futures, & the dis- or utopian drive in being able to think about a different tomorrow. In these cases, all three posit a present now where the political right (esp the far or alt right) have cornered the narratives of tomorrow's worlds
