I had a couple of rescue cats that did that. They were kittens when I found them & they were separated from their moms too early so they held onto that behavior for a while. I just let them self soothe. But I have to say, it kind of broke my heart a little every time.🥹💖
Can I send our cat to you for human rehabilitation? Okay let me preface. She's a sweet girl. I'm a large but definitely not threatening man whose she's irrationally terrified of. I think it's because she was hurt by someone like me. How do I bridge the gap? I know the 3/3/3 rule but I'm the lag.
I used to have a cat that did that. I had found him alone when he was too young to fend for himself, and I had to learn how to take care of a kitten that small. I am proud to have saved him, and he was my furry friend for many years, but he often did the blanket nursing thing.
This is always a gentle reminder not to take kittens away from their mamas before 8 weeks. They will forever seek out that comfort, like an itch they can’t quite relieve.
Cats are Angels without wings & if a cat loves you, it will purr & bring healing vibes into any household that loves & cares for them. Everyone who is ill or lonely should adopt a cat, who will improve your life immensely.
cait. cait. oh my god, cait, there is an entire world of absurdly fancy cat collars out there on etsy and a pretty name needs a pretty collar. just scroll down to the explore more section and be prepared to lose an hour or two browsing
fuck off now I'm definitely past tearing up and full on just crying, I hate feeling shit I want to be unserious, even this post is poisoned meta irony, the love in this thread is short circuiting my brain
I am so happy with how well he's adjusting and decompressing; I just wanna sit there with a lil cheerleading megaphone like HELL YEA LIL MAN, LOOK AT YOU GO 😭
Our friends found a baby kitten in their farm all alone. They couldn’t care for him so we took him in. He was so tiny and should have nursed longer but there was no mama. He has his ‘binkie” that he sucks and kneads daily. He’s 7 months old now with no sign he will stop doing this.
My furry son Wilson did some of this his first couple days with me when he was a kitten. He was constantly kneading, drooling, nursing, and/or purring for 2 straight days! 🥹😭
My 8 year old cat still does this. They were found abandoned in a parking lot and I’m convinced he must have been taken away from his mother while still nursing 😻🐾🐾
I’m turning off the news and focusing on creating art to calm my nervous system. Art as a means of promoting well-being and protecting my mental health.
I have an old feral boy & when he moved indoors he realized he loved blankets. He doesn't want to sit in your lap unless it's really cold & you have a fluffy blanket, he loves to sit behind you on the couch or on the arm on the couch. He loves to be brushed. It's such a great experience for both.

Which definitely applies here!

Babe, you made it. This sweetie is washing away the old and bringing in the new, with YOU! <3
He still needs his mom.
Live long, and prosper.
One of the cats we had when I was a kid used to nurse on my stuffed teddy bear. Did it his entire life.
