Thank you for bringing awareness and advocating for people who rely on Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. Continue to push back.

I'm always low-key hoping for a terminal illness so I can opt out of treatment and just...let go of the constant struggle.

Take a note from how South Korea just responded to their corrupt president - that's what you do.

As a tenant, my logic is investing in a little machine that will mean I won't have to pay to wash EVERY load. Buy the mini washer now and only pay for the use of the washer/dryer for large items and things that can't hang dry. That's how you save money ffs.

Like, I thought everyone understood that investing in quality actually saves you money in the long run? Save up for good boots that last for 10 years rather than cheap ones that last a season - or something to that nature. As a landlord, that would be my logic.

Hire crap roofers? You have to call them back. Use cheap DIY on plumbing? Expect pipe problems. You get what you pay for! You also get the expense of what you DON'T do, like routinely clean the roof, schedule pest maintenance, etc. Penny pinching landlords are the worst 😑 No foresight at all.

Just saying - maybe if the landlords invested in newer machines that A., use less electricity/water and B., could handle the stress of processing laundry for 8 - 10 people, they would "be able to afford machine maintenance and utilities" Buy crap machines, you end up paying more.

Oh good it's not just me dealing with this! Every time I put something in a donation box, my mother comes through and reclaims it. I like to live minimalist, probably because she hoards.

I'm TIRED of this high level of "acceptable risk". I don't WANT to accept this level of risk. People in other countries don't have this same level of risk, so why should we? Common sense legislation and protections would be so beneficial, and yet, here we are, forced to accept the luck of the draw.

It even extends to your financial security, the security of your personal data, etc. We all rely heavily on modern technology for banking and other essential data, all of which is just data ripe for the picking. Sure, you can freeze your credit and monitor your info, but it's still "acceptable risk"

Because of rolled back regulations, corrupt politicians, laws the serve the top 1%, etc. The average person is a sitting duck. We're all playing Russian roulette with life because the people in power don't give a damn for the masses.

And it's not like we can realistically do anything to reduce this risk. Grow your own food, work from home, avoid socializing? These can mitigate the risk for some people, but it's not always sustainable. The vast majority of us just have to live knowing we can't prevent risks. Why?

What are you guys doing about getting those four absentee democrats back to vote? I know they had medical reasons for missing the first vote today, but if they're absent, we're SCREWED.

Please direct some attention to protecting aging and long term care services. Our elderly, disabled, and financially disadvantaged can't be left behind if the GOP wants to cut funding for Apple Health

hoping that the general lack of alignment between senate and house on the budget will prevent major cuts. please, please let incompetence and infighting be our saving grace. also that red state reps wake up...
comment in response to post
I spent all night looking up the specific bill and the cuts they're proposing, and the way it reads seems like cuts will affect ACA expansion members foremost, especially with work requirements. the very poor, elderly, and disabled should still have some coverage. maybe. I'm terrified but also

I had really severe tonsillitis five or six times growing up, but they never took out my tonsils. these things have been the bane of my existence for 30 years 😭

It's hard to feel like anything we do is effective. I email, I call, and my reps are blue. But there's not enough blue where it counts and things are rapidly spiraling out of control. For you, this is your page, so post what you care about. Take your time. The last thing you need is more pressure.

And upon a quick online search, one reason washers leak black sludge over your clothes? Worn out seals that let the transmission oil enter the wash cycle! A way to prevent that? Routine maintenance on the machine. AKA its not MY fault my blanket is ruined beyond repair. Don't try to gaslight me.

But in the back of my mind, I was thinking "This guy in office right now, the state of the world, the housing market...I'm not gonna draw a line in the sand over a blanket." It's not fair, but I have to look at the bigger picture. And that's getting through the next 4 years with a roof over my head.

I just replaced the blanket myself, which wasn't exactly in the budget this month. It was only 2 months old too and would have been the second time it had ever been washed - the first time was successfully done in the same washer, mind you. I really liked it.

It's unsurprising but disappointing. Rent just got raised, too. We don't ask for upgrades, we pay rent on time, we're quiet. But when the machine messes up my stuff, it's my fault for daring to use it in the first place? Right. Got it. I know where we stand.

Four or five units in my building use this second hand washing machine. Last month, I had to report that the dryer wasn't drying and learned it was because the vent was blocked. I don't think it's a stretch to assume the machines aren't routinely maintained and I know that others wash bedding, too.

She suggested I pass over the ruined blanket to her so she could wash it at her house! Has anyone ever gotten motor oil out of white fleece? I doubt it. I said no thank you and she said that she can't compensate unless she can attempt to salvage the blanket. And I just...it's not worth the fight.
