Doug Ford has fallen short. Vote for change. As comforting as continuity may seem, what Ontario needs is change. Liberals, NDP, Greens: take your pick. A vote for any is a vote for a better Ontario. #StarEditorial

Friends in Berlin have long said you get a little waze out of Berlin and you're in....somewhere else.

Just a random reminder that trickle-down economics was invented by conservatives in the 1980s to justify massive tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations. It’s been nothing short of a disaster.

💥The Netherlands' largest pension fund, has sold its shares in Tesla, Meta, and Alphabet (Google). The fund with US $569 billion equivolent in assets is "directing more money to companies and projects that help to improve society and the environment." #Divest www.reuters.com/markets/euro...

Grand River Transit’s bus 7 is one of the busier transit routes in southwestern Ontario, with 15 minute service all day. This is the bus stop in front of the region’s main hospital. It’s a complete disgrace. The snow fell 6 days ago & no one has cleared the stop. Total failure of basic services.

What did we learn from the tenant protections put in place during the pandemic? The Journal of Urban Affairs is preparing a special issue on how COVID-19 reshaped the rental landscape. Submit your paper and learn more here: think.taylorandfrancis.com/special_issu... #housing+ #urbanism+ #urbanism

"...it’s a MAGA hat on wheels.”

You know what was more important than the booing? The way a crowd in Montreal sang the anthem, in English and French, with their whole chests. That was the stuff.

Anyone who still assumes there will be a free and fair mid-term election in two years in the United States still doesn’t understand a really key part of Trump’s, Elon’s and the GOP’s plan.

Help clean up the streets.

One of these is not like the others.

One of our supporters shared this with us—people are getting creative tonight!

🧵"So this is how liberty dies..." Trump’s first 3 weeks have been a relentless flood of actions. It's incredibly hard to keep up. I’ve gone through 69 actions & mapped out the pattern - showing how they fall within 5 broad domains consistent with authoritarian states 1/9

Encyclopædia Britannica will continue to use ‘Gulf of Mexico’ for a few reasons: -We serve an international audience, a majority of which is outside the U.S. -The Gulf of Mexico is an international body of water, and the U.S.’s authority to rename it is ambiguous. 🧵⬇️

I’ll be on CBC Radio’s Here And Now just after 4 pm this afternoon talking about the need for a prohibition of right turns on red lights.

It was a great morning for skiing! Get out and enjoy winter if you can!

If you've ever used the Polity data, read this from Monty Marshall. tl;dr Polity is coding recent US events as an executive self-coup and an adverse regime change.

You are making a big difference in standing up to tyranny. Your decision to cancel the family trip to the United States is freaking them out. As Donald insults our nation, businesses are watching our tourism dollars dry up. Boycott all trips to the United States. www.thetravel.com/us-travel-as...

People who have endorsed Pierre Poilievre: Elon Musk JD Vance Tucker Carlson Alex Jones Joe Rogan Jordan Peterson Good luck to him trying to paint himself as best choice to deal with the threat of Trump and the American right. These "endorsements" will be an albatross. #cdnpoli

It's a different country (let's keep it that way), but Canada's Waterloo Region (650,000) blows US mid-sized cities away in this regard It's not perfect but: -11mile LRT every 10-15 min -good (express) bus network 10-30min -expanding protected cycling network -hourly train/bus to Toronto, 100km away

‘How patronising’: rail bosses face anger over plan to hide train departure times

Powerful reminder from @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social. In his first month of presidency, Trump has attempted multiple power grabs. He'll try to get away with as much as he can until the ppl stop him. Our job is to fight back. Democracy is a verb. It is something we must do, something we must fight for.
