This declaration from Clara “Doe,” supporting the TRO against the freeze on USAID foreign aid (now before SCOTUS), is worth reading. It’s from a USAID contracting officer with more than 10 years experience there. ... 1/6 storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The difference between 8 billion and 8 million is about 8 billion.

Yep, DOGE is as incompetent as everyone thought. An $8 million "saving" has been listed as an $8 BILLION saving. That is 14.5% of their total claimed $55 billion in "savings" having been completely made up.

If you know who the Administrator of DOGE is, tell me about it (on a non-government-issued phone)!!!! Signal: annabower.24

who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE who is the administrator of DOGE WHO IS THE ADMINISTRATOR OF DOGE???????

Hey, #LitigationDisasterTourists, who wants to read the Matt Gaetz Ethics Report with me? As we do, let's keep in mind that this was a report the GOP fought hard to keep us from seeing - while Matty was being nominated for US Attorney General

Heading to Broome, WA. Have heard terrible stories about the local insect population! Anyone able to offer tips? If we cover ourselves in repellent will we be able to venture into the pool, or will we just end up with a nice line separating the insects’ dinner portion of our bodies from the rest?!

No face to face lectures at Monash! I wonder if this is limited to the Philosophy faculty, where this witness is from - or across the Uni.

In session in the Federal Court for Monash Uni’s wage theft case. I’ll be live posting from this hearing today. The NTEU alleges Australia’s largest university has not lawfully paid hundreds, perhaps thousands, of its casual teachers going back to 2016. Justice Snaden is the judge.

It's understandable that people (including media) are anxious about leaving X and losing their followings and its newsfeed, but guys come on you're in a toxic codependency with a narcissistic bully, just get out while you still have a shred of dignity.

Let's say, extremely hypothetically, this social media age ban works. Under-16s are effectively blocked from mainstream social media platforms. What happens? They'll look for non-mainstream platforms. Spoiler: it could get quite bad. Thread.

Comic from 2018. Still very relevant. Just substitute "concern about the price of eggs" for "economic anxiety."

🚨 MAJOR ALERT 🚨 The people wanted verification badges on Bluesky and @guan.dk and I have teamed up to bring you verification badges. Behold! It is the Official Verified Labeller! bsky.app/profile/veri...

Great article that actually engages with the technology side of this proposal. And great point about the CovidSafe app which never worked, but burnt a lot of goodwill.

In the early months of the NACC, one of its chief integrity officers saw the writing on the wall and quit. There were alarm bells, they told colleagues, and hints that the new executive didn't grasp the heightened responsibility of their roles. www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/law-cri...

Went shopping with the kids yesterday on a tight cash budget because I only realised I’d forgotten my phone (= means of payment) after I’d conquered the car park lines. The kids rose to the challenge and kept track of what we’d spent, making sure to keep a bit for lunch. It was actually fun.

The 2008-09 spike was caused by a specific, temporary event (GFC). The current upward trajectory seems to be related to longer-term conditions. Some may be inflation from govt responses to Covid, but the line hasn’t peaked and abated - it’s still going up. 😬 (Not any kind of expert here though!)

This is a real BlueSky story. 18 mths after trialling a radical melanoma treatment (designed by himself & a colleague) for his deadly brain glioblastoma, Prof Richard Scolyer cancer free. Success of the therapy or good luck? All the best for a brave & genuinely good guy x.com/ProfRScolyer...

In 2019, the High Court of Australia decided that the Federal government could restrict public comments by public servants even if posted anonymously: Comcare v Banerji. In practice, anon accounts will often be difficult to ID so enforcement becomes impractical. Enter “age” (ID) verification…

Exclusive: NACC asked former Solicitor-General Justin Gleeson to review its Robodebt decision and then rescinded the offer over concerns that a former Coalition Minister (Person 6) would rain hell. www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/law-cri...

It's up!!!! My Explainer video for BlueSky beginners. I cover how to find your Twitter followers, Starter Packs, Feeds, Lists, some handy-dandy tools, and BlueSky etiquette. Please watch and/or share with any newbies you know. I think it's helpful. www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_V2...

I realise timeline cleanses aren't really necessary on here, unlike 'the other place', but have one anyway. The end is especially cute with a capital Q.

Great starter pack for Aussies 🙌 go.bsky.app/F46ebLH

Things are pretty fucked up and the future is uncertain — probably the worst in my lifetime (perhaps excepting 1969 before I can remember). When it’s like that, I like to think about my grandparents and what they faced and got through with the Great Depression and WWII. /1
