If it ends up meaning that higher quality soccer covers a greater portion of the US, regardless whether MLS absorbs them or they can operate as competitors, I think it's a good thing.
The timing makes sense. Most games are on a cheaper streamer with more on TV than MLS. People will find it.

Freelancers can still use their own domain for something convenient, like a linktree or substack.
And it isn't restricted to media. It's the same steps to have @minakimes.espn.com or @samposner.cdc.gov, for example.
And none of it is permanent. Change jobs - put a different domain in your profile.

I feel the subdomain option makes it more useful as a news feed, because a media outlet could set it up for their employees. In addition to verifying a journalist, it quickly tells me the publication.
And then it remains accessible without an arbiter to weigh in on who's worthy of verification.

The starter packs have been so helpful in getting people to migrate over or at least try out Bluesky. The "inertia" of having to find everyone you want to follow has probably been the biggest obstacle I've seen for the average user.

Re: the point about verification, why haven't more organizations started using subdomains for their employees / writers like PitcherList and Nick Pollack?

Fair - uses a playoff format where nearly all motorsport has a single season points table like European soccer leagues that have balanced schedules. It eliminates drivers throughout, and crowns the champ from a final 4 after a single race. All the other drivers are still on track though.

The big moments are big because they're organic. Look at the current reaction to NASCAR's playoff format - fans are starting not to care who the champion is each year because NASCAR chasing their version of a "game 7" moment makes the whole thing feel like a gimmick.

I'm glad these are here now. Email newsletters have never really been my thing, and having left Twitter a while back I didn't realize how much I'd enjoy seeing one of your board game reviews pop up again. (And how did I not realize Dune: Imperium had a digital implementation!?)

Hopefully High Limit keeps scheduling some of their events around NASCAR weekends. It's fun watching these guys alongside that level of dirt talent, and High Limit is probably the most accessible option to stream.
