this is the sort of thing people like aaron and myself see all the time and we understand the msm is sanewashing him, as the great @parkermolloy.com noted, when they clean all this up and present him like he's a normal boy. for example, look at the ap report and compare it to the absolute shit

Dr. Phil is embedded--as a bloodsucking tick might be embedded on a yellow dog with an ICE collar.

This is becoming absurd—federal employees are now being told to remove pronouns from their email signatures. We will always stand by our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, no matter how many things we’re asked to delete or change. Inclusivity is at the core of who we are.

It's absurd how much people take modern medicine for granted For much of human history, cancer was largely just a death sentence. By the 1970s, overall, it was about a coinflip, roughly 50/50 chance of surviving it. Now, about 80% of people who get cancer survive at least 5 years. That's amazing!

Rhode Island folks: please light up the lines to tell Whitehouse this is not what you voted for, and that Kennedy would be a terrible choice.

Why the fuck is a single Senate Democrat playing “everything is normal” by voting to confirm the Cabinet picks of a fucking dictator? Do. Not. Comply. You have ALL spent the last how many years calling him Hitler and now you’re like, ‘I’m a yes on Goebbels and here’s why…” Fuck that. Stop it. Now.

Rep. Jason Crow on Biden's pardons: "You have an incoming president and those around him who are repeatedly threatening his family. That is the story here."

Mike Turner says that when Speaker Johnson ousted him as chair of the intel committee, he told him that "an element included concerns from Mar-a-Lago." (Johnson has denied this, so somebody is lying...) Turner adds that he's "concerned" about the new direction of the committee.

more like this from top Dems, please

Again, in 2022, Congress passed a law that explicitly made these firings illegal. Are Republican senators unaware of that?

This is the Ben & Jerry’s video that has folks talking and MAGA losing their shit! We need to support @benandjerrys y’all, because we don’t ever want them to “stick to just the ice cream”. 👀

(CNN) - Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced Sunday he is blocking US deportation flights, marking an example of the headwinds the Trump administration faces as it tries to ramp up removals. @cnn.com www.cnn.com/politics/liv...

Go Team ! Keep building that information foundation. I also recommend @hcrichardson.bsky.social ‘s book Democracy Awakening. Go Team! 💙

Shout out to the @thebaltimorebanner.com in this article about new, local journalism.

@marcelias.bsky.social: "There is a reason why Trump nominated Kash Patel, Tulsi Gabbard, Pete Hegseth. He wants to humiliate these Republicans, because he knows that once they have voted for these folks, he will own them. They will not have a shred of dignity or standing left."

Immigrant round-ups as entertainment is Verhoeven levels of dystopia

The most common question I receive is how everyday citizens can help in the fight for democracy. My advice, take the first step, start with something small and see what works for you. Here are ten things all of us can do. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/10-t...

There weren't headlines like this before the election because they wanted Trump to be elected so they could make money writing headlines like this after the election.

Which is exactly why I’m not reading them now. Fuck all the media who is suddenly super concerned about a tyrannical government

Here's the archived page from last week: web.archive.org/web/20250118...

At this point, Teen Vogue is doing a better job of speaking truth to power than any legacy newspaper.

If Trump were to seize Greenland, a NATO member, under the NATO charter, NATO would be compelled to defend. This would either pit America vs NATO or force NATO to back down and dissolve. This is a Trump-Putin joint effort to destroy NATO together.

There is no such thing as a vaccine skeptic. Vaccine skepticism is simply science denialism and the endorsement of conspiracy theories. The media should stop whitewashing antivaxxers and call them what they truly are. RFK Jr is an anti-vaxxer.

New on MSNBC: Vice President Harris will fly back to Los Angeles today with an all-female U.S. Air Force crew — the first time an all-female crew has operated a C-33.   Upon landing, Harris will visit a local fire station and then distribute food to community members impacted by the wildfires.

These executive orders on banning federally funded entities from recognizing trans people or disallowing them from using the bathroom are not self-executing or immediately enforceable. They require formal rule making at a minimum. They are a scare tactic. Ignore and do not comply in advance.

Just a reminder for the next four years: the traditional media is useless at dealing with Not Normal. It has baked-in templates and modes of operation that forces news into Normal shapes. And that’s how things that are beyond the pale gradually become regular life.

When Musk denies that he did a big ol Nazi salute during the inauguration, remember this, from Jean-Paul Sartre, 1944.

Historian of fascism here. It was a Nazi salute and a very belligerent one too.

For most of my life, I’ve thought there were WAY too many books and movies whose sole message was “WW2 was a really big deal & Nazis are unredeemable monsters.” But now I’m thinking there REALLY weren’t enough.

This is somehow much worse than what I expected

This is the cowardice of The New York Times. Legacy media is failing.

This is the cowardice of the Washington Post. Legacy media is failing.

I’m just going to say that AOC is the acting leader of the Democratic Party until someone proves otherwise. At least insofar as she is responding to the moment with leadership.

Nazis: "that's a nazi salute" Historians: "that's a nazi salute" Average person: "that's a nazi salute" The Media: "Elon Musk makes odd gesture throwing his heart to the crowd."

I love this so much! At the inauguration, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wore a distinctive collar adorned with cowrie shells, which are believed to offer protection from evil in African traditions. This choice mirrors the late Justice Ginsburg’s practice of using collars to convey a message.

The White House ordering DOJ to drop pending prosecutions is a breach of the department’s traditional independence that would be an earthshaking scandal under ordinary circumstances.

This is gold.

I'm signing off for now. But can anyone doubt we are, as of today, in an existential battle for our democracy? It's a battle that could be lost but must be won. We have to call out every lie and resist every incursion. open.substack.com/pub/harrylit...

Any elected Democrat who looks at the events of the day and communicates “We’ll find ways to work with this” and not “We’re going to fight this” needs to go. I get that they will have to work with it on some practical level, but when Trump is in shock and awe mode, meet the damn moment.

It is time to look to the future. The challenges that face America are many and great. The Senate must respond with resolve, bipartisanship, and fidelity to the working and middle class of this country.

Lots of reporting suggested that, this time around, Trump and his lawyers would avoid the sloppy legal work that plagued his first administration so they’d fare better in the courts. I see no evidence of that in this round of executive orders. This is poor, slipshod work obviously assisted by AI.

Hard to overstate how catastrophic this is for global public health. The WHO has helped saved literally millions of lives, particularly those of children, from malnutrition, malaria, TB, HIV etc. Pure callous disregard for vulnerable humanity from Trump - as expected.

My friend: how do you stay in the house all day? Me: all my stuff is there and I don't like people.

BREAKING: A federal district court judge in Kentucky vacates the Biden administration's Title IX rule, challenged largely for its transgender protections, a decision with nationwide effect. Law Dork's extensive coverage of challenges to the rule can be found here: www.lawdork.com/t/title-ix-r...

These extraordinary photos of the LA fires have been shared widely on social media, often without crediting the photographer. These are all the work of Ethan Swope, an LA-based photojournalist working for AP. You can follow his remarkable reporting here👇 www.instagram.com/ethanswopeph...
