Just curious but what Nintendo remake in recent years has ever change the core aspects of the original games? Just curious because at the top of my head Nintendo either makes it a spinoff like Super Mario 64 DS, Pokemon Let's Go or just have a complete aesthetic make over like Zelda Link's awakening

Take your time and remember isolating yourself to one game/community only will harms you, the longer you invest in it the less you receive so take you time, explore more options so you can come back with a different perspective

If you want to understand why games "quality" has been going down (it hasn't there just more games now) understand this concept call "Corporate Greed" and you'll understand all of the "problem" with new media

Balder gates 3 woes literally accidentally promoted with a gay bear sex scene you can't be more gay then that and yet it's still earn game of the year, making it matter to the conversation of media as a hole
comment in response to

Ok first why does kcd 2 matter I quickly look it up on YouTube and it's just mix opinions no concrete thing other then grifter grifting and second if all you can't say shit about queer media when BALDER FUCKING GATES 3 WOES THE GAME OF THE YEAR

I really hope this game become one of the more know indie games like pizza tower, just the demo alone shows so much potential and with the recent push to Indie games I really hope it stick's out of the sea of indie games coming out
comment in response to
post
Ohh and remember to follow indie devs they tend to cross promote alot so its easier to know the upcoming big indie games
comment in response to

But at the end of the day everyone likes different things so no hard pressure and remember gaming isn't new past games can be as fun as new ones going back a revisiting some classic can make you appreciate the newer games sorry for the long post I'm not the greatest when it comes to keeping it short

And I would be careful with the "I don't play games to get frustrated" I can be good to know your limits but believe me when I say that you can be frustrated and enjoy the experience, it's how you know that your truly immerse when you can't let go of the controller because you know you can do it

List of indie games that I would recommend would be
Shovel knight (you got like 5 retro style games in one)
The messenger
Undertale and Deltarune
Lunacid
Mouthwashing
Crosscode
Hollow knight
Stardew valley
Terraria
They all have their thing going for

Apart from celeste theirs lot of indie darling and great indie games that aren't as talk about as it should, yakkocmn is a good channel to start when it comes to indie games and perusing itch.io can be entertaining

Naaa don't worry if I can converter someone into a indie enjoyer that's a win in my book, about celeste I can understand the worries of "hard" games my recommendation is, if it's on sale it worth it just to have it or to try it steam has a 2 hour refund policy after all
comment in response to

When it comes to walking sim, yea banban isint the best game but mouthwash is by far one of my favorite gaming experience and their in the same niche of horror walking games practically

The op already stated that he's post is more for professionals or interested people in the field but for me is more a statement against anti-intellectualism that lead to people making argument against learning stuff,I dont see where he's saying your not enjoying as much as me or anything alike
comment in response to

Reading the replies 1 or 2 people (don't even want to think about how folks on xitter would react) sed that the problem was micro transaction and day 1 updates and stuff like that (and it's true) but it missis the reason of why is it like that and that's what the op is promoting
comment in response to
post
Ok I just disagree with that one, the reason that it sed like that it because their is a problem with anti-intellectualism a lot of people think that a game should be one thing and one thing only and learning about how it's made breaks that form of thinking
comment in response to
post
But also I don't see the negative on promoting a more curios and engage form of appreciation, ironically for me saying that the op take, gets rid of nuance take away the nuance that the op wanted to promote and flourish
comment in response to
post
I kinda agree and semi disagree I do think following devs always makes the experience better even if the dev is not particularly interesting because learning about a process is always interesting, and yea it's a grand statement it's to be taking as a "perfect world" scenario
comment in response to

I don't NEED to But I WANT to, it makes me appreciate the game more, it inspires me to look up and learn new stuff, fulfilling stuff, I understand wanting to kick back and relax that's why I do it, it's just a net positive for me to understand where the thing that I love come to life
comment in response to
post
The premise is understanding the why of the games, why is it like that, why woes is made, why do people study it to learn, is a way to engage with the art or game in a deeper way that gives context or just a meaningful though about a thing that we love
comment in response to
post
I mean doesn't art create culture, culture is just the combination of people with samish background and/or beliefs, and as for me looking up background information about the development always makes me appreciate thing more in general, so many story by fascinating people to enrich your life to hear

Why make a good game with a fantastic story and hours of side content when you can make a gacha and earn 10x the money, corporate greed kills good games which is why we need to celebrate the games that dont do that to show that games are more then a product
comment in response to
post
Not to be rude but idie game are a thing and don't have those problem what your complaining is the corporate greed from the top that makes the devs have to put these things in, which is a problem that circle back to "as long as people view games as products, that ain't changing"
comment in response to
post
Also fuck companies that replace potential content with cheap artstyle breaking crossovers skin that break the aesthetic of the game for easy engagement and money, (looking at you Fortnite) I don't care if "vegeta hitting the grity on master chief" is funny, creative integrity is all in my eyes.

Sorry for the rant but as you might suspect I do like rpg and whenever I hear someone just hate a game/genre because of a weird idea of what a game should be it does kinda tic me off, especially when the same person later complain about how samey gaming feels, like come on just try new stuff
comment in response to
post
Rpg are the golden child of "Game bad because it doesn't focus on gameplay and too much text" which can be actuals criticism but often is just "I don't like rpg and will preach that the genre deserve to die" so often conversation about rpg are bad faith from the get go or in niche secluded spaces
comment in response to
post
It's a true notion that gameplay is a really important part of what makes a good game a good game, but often is kinda the only thing that decides if the game is worth playing (that and steam concurrent players for some reason?) and it often leads to people neglecting games unless is popular
comment in response to
post
Slight tangent for me is the misguided look at games as "gameplay above all else".
So many people don't dive in or try to understand games or genres that focus on doing stuff like storytelling, strategy, puzzle, or weird shit out of the idea that a gameplay needs to be the thing overstimulating

In a perfect world Elon would be sued into oblivion for protecting hate speech and discrimination against an opress minority with the simple argument of how is saying a slur not lead to a ban or restrictive account but saying cis or cisgender is

Yea, I don't really bother with that train of thought because historicaly he will be remember for what he did and not what he's images woes, that's the thing I just don't get about "powerful" or "famous" people all this headache for what to be know as a punching bag thats it
