Please sign. I know someone affected by this. They have treated the workers appallingly. Letting them know 3 days before payday they had no job. Withholding a month's wages and being very slow to sort out redundancy etc. www.megaphone.org.uk/petitions/ju...

As Labour touts more brutal cuts to benefits, how is this different from life under the Tories? Reeves tweaks non-dom tax law because of “concerns” but ignores the cries of disabled, old, sick, poor. Poor are expendable. Wealthy potential donors less so. Govt must change direction.

Many care experienced young people including those in kinship care have experienced trauma. Isolation from family & friends while in care can adversely impact mental health further. We're supporting the #FutureMindsCampaign calling for immediate, scalable action to address the mental health crisis

As the @thebda.bsky.social point out today “to save a service millions depend on we need to see urgency and ambition” I’m backing the BDA in its call for urgent action to save NHS dentistry

Junior looking at inversion in lower Wharfedale and 'Brocken Spectre' on Otley Chevin.

Well, having missed the #HolmeValley inversion yesterday, self and grandson were rewarded with a lower Wharfedale inversion, with the added bonus of a 'Brocken Spectre'👌developing, which then hung around for a while... #OtleyChevin

Kids love paddling here in the summer, but no more 😢 @premnsikka.bsky.social

Prefer it here, but feel like there's already a lot of fake accounts. Has some strange accounts follow me.

UK Labour govt to continue Tory policy - a planning ‘free-for-all’ allowing developers to convert office blocks into flats without planning control. New slums for the poor - Flats measuring 12ft x 12ft), poor ventilation, thin walls, lack of amenities. www.theguardian.com/society/2024...

Third of Yorkshire Water customer bill cash goes on debt & dividend Similar with other water companies. Money borrowed to pay dividends, investment neglected, sewage dumped, customers fleeced; aapproved by OFWAT. Must end the farce. Nationalise without compensation. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Give those who work in child services the resources and the training to do their job. Further upstream work on better access to rehab, re-introduce surestart model. Before anyone worries about the expenditure. It will cost a lot more when damaged children become broken adults. Break the cycle.

Shocking 14% rise in homelessness in England. 354,000 people homeless, includes 161,500 children - equivalent to city the size of Coventry. Result of austerity, real wage/benefit cuts, unchecked profiteering. Govts make slogans do nothing to end inequities. www.theguardian.com/society/2024...

A shocking revelation today in the #PhysicianAssociates scandal It turns out the Health Secretary is using tax payers money to pay the GMC’s costs in defending the legal action brought by @anaesunited.bsky.social to protect patient safety - an outrageous use of public money youtu.be/T-BDHQop1zk?...

Every £ you donate to @familyrightsgp before Tuesday will be matched under #TheBigGive 😀 lt means we can provide specialist advice to more kinship carers eg a grandmother seeking to take on the care of her grandchild who'd otherwise be in the care system

Local sunset, December, last year. #HolmeValley

Is it time to decolonise #attachmenttheory in #socialwork? Discuss. Links to papers welcomed.

It is my birthday! For the last three years, I've been involved in bringing together care experienced young people in Wales on Christmas Day to have fun and an excellent meal. If you'd maybe buy me a birthdat beer, consider making a small donation to our event: www.justgiving.com/page/cardiff...

Such important work. I spoke to 2 birth mothers as part of my PhD exploring contact experiences in SGOs. Both mothers felt strongly "I am still their mother" and described feeling "powerless" in the system #kinship #birthmothers

Almost half of kinship carers fear that the experiences of the children they look after has negatively impacted on their education. The govt's "failure" to provide support for kinship children is "inexcusable” says Dr Lucy Peake , CEO of Kinship Charity. www.tes.com/magazine/new...

Exciting first post on here. Check out a paper I had the pleasure of working on. I'm super proud of it. Hello @bsky.app people! Fed up of never seeing the people I like to interact with on X without searching for them. So here I am. Hoping for a less depressing, divisive experience and looking forward to connecting with you all.
