Unfurtunately, in a democracy outnumbering their descendants has been (and continues to be) massively lucrative for those pensioners. Which is why talking about 5 decades worth of sub-replacement birthrates only NOW is pure hypocrisy unless the painful consequences are made retroactive.

Always been my favourite in East Cambs (well, along with Isleham). It's worth adding that both this and nearby Kirtling are at their best on sunny Spring days - full of wonderful crisp light and shepherded by swarms of daffodils.

Off to Florida - because of course they are. At this rate Miami's gonna be worse than when Castro emptied his jails in the 1980s.

An aside, but "There are apparently 1,700 episodes of Crossroads in existence"

A truly horrifying thought when you think of all the stuff that DID get wiped from that era. 🤢

Yeah, that's an utterly bizarre headline. No disrespect to Amy, but she's hardly surpassed the likes of Carole King or Joni Mitchell just yet.

WHS has been tacky since at least the 70s; smartphones killing the "desperate for reading material on train" market absolutely SHOULD be it's death knell.

If you think TGL is unnerving, check out Briers's contemporary work in mostly forgotten comedy(*) "The Other One".
(*) Actually more of an understated gay romance between two Aspies.

Nor really. However, it IS the one he should have sung at the 2012 Olympics (instead of Hey Jude).

Bloody self-driving cars again. I'm surprised that Germans actually allow them on the road, considering that they're still using fax machines.

We really need some kind of centrally funded roving hit squad of CPO specialist lawyers that councils can call in when necessary; dealing with the inevitable judicial reviews and other lawfare is really too much of a burden for cash-strapped councils at present.

Yep, they're the first government in living memory to tell scrounging boomers to fuck off (and hopefully die). Short-term pain guaranteed, but at least the Tories let plenty of replacements in - that's where they should be campaigning, not listening to the commentariat still mentally scarred by 92.

At this point, I'm just waiting for him to go full Gerald Ratner and announce that EVs are shit, too.

Well, good news for Ely - they'd officially make it into the Cambridge Pale, get rid of the rancid Tory DC and finally disown Fenland. Maybe they could even tackle their plague of antisocial, illegal parking!

Yeah, they invariably attract the sort of people you'd cross the street to avoid (the ones you'd actually spit on tend to prefer Nextdoor, for some reason).
