“Those nasty Canadians are ripping us off and are controlled by Mexican cartels. They’re poisoning us with fentanyl and need to become the 51st state or they will pay a high price” is a belief that literally ZERO Americans had six weeks ago. It’s entirely invented from scratch.

Aside from the obvious direct harm, what's so irritating is that a handful of spoiled ignorant assholes are breaking things that we all built together. They weren't content to own almost everything, they had to wreck what little they didn't own. It's vandalism on a mass scale and has to be punished

Google wants to me try their AI, Gemini?

can't believe it's 2025 and i'm stressed about tariffs and measles, like am i a character in an american girl book

Is Bill Gates still shorting Telsa stock? I'd love an update on that wild story.

King of Shoot the Shit checking in

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F. 18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it. We made this website to tell our story: 18f.org

4 ex-Dem grifters who all came to realize the Dems weren't gullible enough.

Oh cool Trump just re-invented DARE.

I've read most of the analyses of the DOGE 2025 "receipts" site. This, from NPR, is the best I've read so far. Some of what they claim to have cut haven't been cut, other "cuts" will incur costs down the road. NPR says DOGE has made $2B of cuts, not $55B. www.npr.org/2025/02/19/n...

Kings in America:

Fascists never make the trains run on time. In reality, fascists are incompetent and stupid and they screw everything up and then blame minorities. None of this is new, and that's whats so depressing about it.

Maybe I wasn’t clear about this. I wanted more egg and no plane crash, not many plane crash and no egg.

NEW: At least three more DOJ Public Integrity Unit senior officials have resigned after meeting with Emil Bove on the Eric Adams case. Five in Public Integrity overall. That’s six officials who resigned, triple the number that happened during the Saturday Night Massacre.

Donated!

This is all a good reminder that, “no help, no votes until the criminal conduct stops” is neither a big ask nor a politically perilous one.

Please stop with the generative AI. It's garbage, theft, making us less capable. Image by www.nobodyssweetheart.com

Mitch McConnell is so old he had polio.

Yeah democracy and a constitutional republic are great and all, but have you ever been mildly inconvenienced by having to wear a mask during a global pandemic?

How is it possible the some people are so incredibly smart and other people are so fucking stupid.

LeBron James is now both the youngest (19 years, 88 days) and the oldest (40 years, 39 days) player in NBA history to score 40+ points in a game.

Hey man sorry to hear about all your political turmoil. Would it help if I scrolled around on the computer all day and drove myself insane?

One of Elon Musk's DOGE staffers is a 19-year-old who goes by "Big Balls" online and owns a company called Tesla.Sexy that sells an AI bot for Russian Discord servers. These are the kinds of people who have access to the country's most sensitive data www.wired.com/story/edward...

All hail Dictator DOGE: www.thenerdreich.com/reboot-elon-...

Their response to "he's violating the Constitution" is really "but bro is so sick at coding." US rule of law in shambles. Tech ideology is really that kind of caricature of itself.

Are the next 4 years really going to be logging on everyday to sentences like "a 19 year old doge intern called Big Balls has your social security number" because I'm already at capacity for this sort of thing

I don't usually quote the GOP, but in 1988, Ronald Reagan said, "We should be aware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends, weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world—all while cynically waving the American flag." Guess what, Ron...

It’s like someone dropped acid, tried to think of the most damage they could do to the US, then downloaded it into Trump’s brain.

If the FAA director got fired over a business beef AND there was an air traffic controller hiring freeze despite huge shortages AND a chaotic blitz to hollow out federal bureaucracy, and then within a week the first American airliner crashes in 16 years, you would be insane not to talk about it all.

Trump wants to distract you from the fact that he gutted the Aviation Safety Committee and ousted the FAA administrator last week. Don’t let him.

➡️ January 20: FAA director fired ➡️ January 21: Air Traffic Controller hiring frozen ➡️ January 22: Aviation Safety Advisory Committee disbanded ➡️ January 28: Buyout/retirement demand sent to existing employees ➡️ January 29: First American mid-air collision in 16 years Making America Great Again!

I often feel this way when reading student evaluations.

No, I don't need a bloody copilot for this document, thank you. Writing is, in no small part, a tool for thinking. If you outsource that element to a machine that cannot think, you shouldn't be surprised if, at the end of the process, neither you nor your reader are any the wiser.

Congressman Eric Swalwell: "Donald Trump does not back the blue. He backs the coup."

Perhaps rephrase this: Trump announces he doesn't want to cure cancer.

Trump just revoked the Equal Employment Opportunity executive order of 1965, rolling back 60 years of progress on civil rights. The order had prohibited employment discrimination in federal hiring based on race, religion, and gender.

Wow.

wow back in tallahassee... snow...

WSJ Ed board even includes descriptions of the cop-assailants Trump pardoned. www.wsj.com/opinion/dona...
