What’s the point of an economic boycott that has a stated end date and has no demands?

None of this should be controversial. For the last five years of her life my mom used a walker and eventually a wheelchair to move around. Whenever I see a car parked on the sidewalk all I see is someone who is making life more difficult for people whose lives are already hard.

Made a bike light holder that attaches to my basket. This solves the issue of a loaded basket blocking the light mounted to a handlebar. I’m not able to illuminate the ground in front of the bike with no obstruction.

Nearly run over this morning by a guy doing a u-turn. He then rolled his window down to yell at me for being in the road while he was trying to make a turn. I laughed and just rode off.

pix11.com/news/morning... Even when cars are parked they still find a way to make our lives more dangerous. Shame on these people and shame on the NYPD for refusing to ticket or tow cars that park in front of hydrants.

NYC politicians hate safe streets activism because to drivers, people walking and biking across the street are not human. They’re obstacles: they force drivers to pay attention, slow down, and wait. Drivers feel like people walking have all the control. What a sick mentality.

If you see this post quote with a bridge from your gallery. #bikesky #crosscheck

Went for a ride today and this is 7th Ave and 48th St at 11:00 am on a Monday. There’s noticeably less cars and noise. The majority of the cars I saw were cabs, Ubers and other work vehicles. It’s incredible. #congestionpricing

Dream job tbh

The three second rule applies to eating food dropped on the floor and how long you have to drive through a light after it turned red, apparently.

Like smoking a cigarette, driving a giant SUV/pickup endangers anyone nearby. The narrative power of secondhand smoke galvanized the anti-tobacco movement in the 1980s – and it could do the same for car bloat today. My deep dive, in Vox 🧵 www.vox.com/future-perfe...

2025 will be my 13th year of being #carfree in NYC. We are far from a utopia here, but it’s pretty easy to bike, walk or take the train to do anything you need. Dealing with aging family members in the suburbs reveals how lucky we are here because everything is accessible without needing to drive.

Bicycles aren't inconvenient; they have been inconvenienced. Cars aren't convenient; they have been convenienced.

I kind of missed grocery discourse, but I think many people don't grasp the widespread lack of basic cooking literacy. There's a reason why many public health nutrition initiatives include some sort of cooking instruction component: You can't eat healthier foods if you don't know how to prepare them

Totals from bike commuting all year, a lot of solo and group rides and even a century. Hoping to significantly add to these numbers in 2025.

Just like AR-15–style assault weapons, at some point, we have to come to terms with how dangerous massive vehicles like the Ford F-150 (EV or not) are to society and decide whether people should be allowed to have them.

As someone who primarily rides a bike for utility and refuses to dress like a “cyclist” this really spoke to me.

Bike lane in #CDMX

Hope everyone gets the bike they wanted this Christmas.

www.thecity.nyc/2024/12/19/c... “The footage shows that two police officers who were driving unmarked vehicles in the opposite direction as Williams both turned their vehicles into his oncoming path.” The #NYPD will bill you for the damage you did to the car that killed you.

This is not a recipe for winning people to your side. It’s just as toxic and mean spirited as anything Trump says.

the anti-e-bike crowd at today's city council hearing booed the city DOT transportation commissioner when he said "reckless driving by motor vehicle drivers remains by far the biggest threat to pedestrian safety.”

A few #defacedplates from the streets of NYC.

You should be outraged about Intro 606 (a bill to require e-bike "licenses") -- EVEN IF YOU DO NOT RIDE AN E-BIKE. It's an insane stop-and-frisk revival. The bill would let the NYPD pull over ANYONE on ANY BIKE -- even if they haven't broken the law. Let me explain...

People who actually know what it’s like to be disabled in society are roasting this dude. It’s worth reading through

You can find #gravel in Brooklyn. This is at Shirley Chisholm State Park where there are several miles of interconnecting trails. Kind of a choose your own adventure. Nice to ride a bike without having to worry about cars for a bit.

Sometimes you just have to stop and take a picture. Here’s a couple from this past weekend. #bikenyc

Just because you left your bike on the sidewalk doesn’t mean a car won’t hit it.

My commuter bike- full fenders, a basket and a waterproof bag to hold stuff I need for the day like my lunch and a few tools. Same bag I use for grocery runs.

Honking car horns are just an adult having small tantrums. Sitting helplessly in their little boxes while in traffic they use their horn to express frustration about the situation. It’s annoying, but also funny.
