A Vulcan got with Torres in the episode Blood Fever. It was a deep dive into the Pon Farr and cultural norms around it.

The Oscars are generally pretty bad. I think that they get it wrong more often than right. A good awards ceremony would never have given Crash so much as a nomination.

It's such a brilliant game even though all you really do is meander around and look into people's souls.

This is almost the plot of conclave.

Congratulations! Bit of a tangent: I loved your slasher boyfriend comic, and I was wondering if you ever saw Unmasked Part 25? It's a spoof of the Jason movies where a blind woman doesn't realize that her new boyfriend is a famous serial killer.

Get yourself some Caramilk too. Also Canadian A&W is vastly superior. And McDonalds has the old Tim Hortons coffee contract so go there for the good coffee.

Not sure how to do a sequel since the movie wrapped the plot up neatly. Maybe a full remake instead?

I like the Muppet version but I love the George C Scott version. Just an unparalleled performance and with some amazing lighting and camerawork. Only seeing the shadow of the ghost of Christmas future for most of its appearance is just incredible.

I know a friend that took a first date to that movie. He just thought it would be like a regular horror film. There was not a second date.

Angst, Irreversible and Salo are all movies that make me feel disgusted to even mention. So those should work for you!

Resident evil has been great lately so no surprise seeing three on your list. Maybe try smaller games sometime? Mouthwashing is like two hours long but it's extremely memorable.

What's your game list? I think I might actually be in the same range but for different reasons.

I haven't seen The Piano Teacher (even though I own the criterion!) and never even heard of Tropical Malady. The rest of your top 8 are very high up in my top list too, so I clearly need to watch these movies ASAP!

I honestly like 1 more than 2 so skipping it would be a huge mistake. Black Mesa is great, just play that.

Just read good fiction and biographies that you find interesting. Books are a window into someone else's soul so just enjoy the stories and see how they impact you and what you can learn from them. Self help books are basically reference manuals or textbooks, but without anything useful to teach.

Animal crossing is huge in other countries, especially its home country of Japan. The latest entry is also the 13th best selling videogame of all time, 7th if you restrict the list to games from the last decade (i.e. more relevant to current gaming trends). It's not niche by any standards.

I think it's a very fair price since I've got over 100 hours in it and still have about a dozen games to complete (including the wild West RPG). But that really just reinforces your second point, lol.

Are you currently taking game recommendations? If so, Mary I suggest my GOTY, UFO 50?

If they're on PC or switch then I'll get them soon. Okage was quirky as hell which is why I loved it. You get possessed by the devil but he's more like a weird roommate. I haven't played it in years so I'm worried that the writing isn't as good as I remember it, but I think it should hold up.

Those are some blind spots for me. Never tried any of the Atelier or Xeno games but I enjoyed my fair share of PS2 RPGs. Thoughts on Okage? That was my favorite one as a kid.

UFO 50 is awesome. Every game feels like a complete experience. Truly their magnum opus. I love SNES games so I've been enjoying the hell out of it. I love PS1 graphics too so recent horror games have also been great. I guess 6th gen is retro now. Any games you're keeping an eye out for?
comment in response to post
I think you'd really appreciate UFO 50 then since it's a set of 50 faux-retro games and it's early GOTY. I'm sure this isn't helping with the demons though.

Do it. Embrace the backlog.

Sweden is a bad example, although it's right on the edge there. I have definitely seen examples with Bulgaria, Bosnia and Romania though.

It's a package deal. A lot of these videos about boring art films also place these films as being produced in countries like Sweden. It's not just that they are uninformed about art, but they have anti foreign sentiment as well. America doesn't make these kinds of movies, only other people.

House of Leaves is my favorite book of all time, but it's very meta and layered. It's about Johnny, who finds a literary analysis of a documentary. So you're reading his thoughts on the essay and the essay author's thoughts on the documentary. Except the documentary doesn't exist!

Some of them are cheap looking but as a deliberate stylistic choice. I think that's something else people are bad about: if a movie isn't going for bland realism they think there's a problem with it.

He literally just repeated "It's comedy! It's comedy!" a few times.

Scorsese got these people dead to rights decades ago. It's just incurious behavior with xenophobic sentiments baked in. Remember it's not just that art films are boring, but they're Eastern European too.

Have you seen Chicken for Linda? A really small, personal film that flew under the radar and it might be one of the best animated films of the past decade

I Saw The TV Glow is possibly my movie of the year. Anna Kendrick's Woman of the Hour was pretty good too!

I've just come to realize that a lot of people only know things from cultural osmosis. I imagine a lot of these takes are from people that have heard of but haven't seen a Muppet movie. It's like how Godzilla is always goofy, or how Mike Myers is faceless (his face was revealed in the first film!)

Sure. I'm just saying that there are downsides to just leveraging stock for loans all the time. At some point you need to sell and it's completely possible that the stock is worth less than it was when you got the loan.

How many billionaires are just leveraging index funds? Jeff Bezos is rich because he owns a lot of Amazon stock, he's not that diversified.
