It's often all vibes based assumptions driving everything.
For one, Specifically remember trying to explain to my folks a few years back how many ppl will leave prison in debt from charges accrued *in prison* and they adamantly denied that happens.

Before really getting marginal tax rates (and being in a conservative environment from a young age), it was rather easy to take me in with the tax arguments as I had no concept of how it worked and money was a very esoteric idea at that point.

And like the way to get there is to reorient k-12 schools and return to an emphasis on classics and more engaging contemporary works.
I probably would not have my reading interests without a teacher in 10th grade assigning All the Pretty Horses and handing me Call Me Ishmael for free reading
