GitHub and making my own HTML page #blog https://relativenostalgia.com/posts/github-and-making-my-own-html-page

Managed to create a new about me page to accompany my blog. Except I have created it for Github pages and am using a subdomain. The theme matches my blog so it still kind of looks a part of it. sweeting.relativenostalgia.com

TIL that "Oxford spelling" is a thing, it's basically American English, except used by Oxford. Thanks, I hate it!

Feels like the US is starting its Brexit moment. In which the country tells the world to f*** off and then wonders why all the other countries did precisely that.

Around a year ago I started to move my main podcast listening to YouTube music (sacrilege I know) but this was due to the ability to swap between audio and video at ease. However, increasingly this key feature just doesn't work. So I'm moving back to Pocketcasts for everything again.

Dealing with Microsoft and returning to Linux #blog https://relativenostalgia.com/posts/dealing-with-microsoft-and-returning-to-linux

I always forget how tedious it can be to write an abstract for something new. You think you've written over 400 words only to discover that you still haven't quite reached 300... No wonder I found blogging to be more liberating lately.

Hot tip: get that SSX 3 feeling by putting on Poor Leno by Röyksopp and skiing down a steep hill in Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders.

I might not be using Bear Blog at the moment (I might refashion my site for something else in the future) but I greatly respect what Herman is doing and continue to praise the service. herman.bearblog.dev/manifesto/

I've been thinking about this for the past week, but I wanted to watch one of Lynch's films before writing a #blog post reflecting on his work. relativenostalgia.com/posts/thinki...

Today's paid newsletter is free to all! A monster edition covering all the week's big news, Ninja Gaiden II Black, and that massive VC presentation everyone's been going on about from which I learned exactly one thing: there is no singular 'game industry' newsletter.hitpoints.co/298-carve-it...

The fact that someone like Chris- who has multiple publications, as well as popular trade books, and a proven record of public engagement work, on top of all the teaching experience- is having to leave academia shows that academia is broken.

Unfortunately academia is broken... How can it treat people this way? I have experienced my fair share of problems. But letting someone go who has successful books published. Plus ones that have wide appeal, something I'm increasingly told we need to do.

The US has clearly looked at the "Brexit benefits"...

My #blog now has its own custom domain! Please visit www.relativenostalgia.com

I’ve had several students (presumably for an assignment - not *my* students) reach out with questions about gamedev + my career the last couple weeks. But their questions were clearly AI generated. Students, please do not do this. Profs, do not encourage this.

You have got to admit it is kind of funny that Mark Zuckerberg did all this stuff to curry favor with Trump only for Trump to save TikTok

My first Pika blog post. Been thinking for the past week about films/TV that I like despite often being typically criticised. #blog relativenostalgia.pika.page/posts/unpopu...

David Lynch's work was a big part of my undergraduate days but I continued to watch and listen to his work during the years since. His passing has hit me more than the others who I don't personally know.

Switch 2 is a Switch 2 all right! But that's all we really know for now...

There are those of us trying to remove ourselves from Meta's reach. But it might be difficult to truly do so for somethings. #blog relativenostalgia.bearblog.dev/trying-to-es...

I think I get what Micro Blog is trying to and also crucially what the limitations are for Micro One. But not sure if it’s for “me”.

First test did appear in both place. Although the Micro One interface now seems to have hid adding sources? Maybe that’s because I’m not on the main “blog” subscription? Still getting to grips with all of this.

Hello friends, currently trying out Micro Blog (technically Micro One) cross posting.

Damn... Looks like my perfectly fine Dell XPS (that I have had for 8 years!) will have to be replaced... Black Friday 2025 here I come.
