Great coverage of our recent study on 2024 warming and the 1.5°C limit by @tinymaddie.bsky.social here: www.newscientist.com/article/2467... @bevacquae.bsky.social

I'm sorry to report

I know it all seems maddeningly slow to those of us in the biz, but a new report shows that *every one of America's 50 states* (and Puerto Rico!) took action on grid modernization in 2024. It's starting to happen.

Imagine saying this about an agency that has helped millions of people around the world avoid malaria, obtain clean water, and gain access to food & health care. Especially when you’re the world’s richest man & your net worth is something like 20 times this agency’s annual budget. What a foul soul.

Elon Musk is a terrible president.

We’re asking big questions about what’s needed to build power and policies that create a greener, more just world for all. Honored to be speaking alongside these incredible panelists! Tuesday 12/9, 4-5pm ET: t.co/GEcz4s0OFI @cplusc.bsky.social

"Scientists as political advocates" | Must-read commentary in Science Magazine mentions my #ScienceUnderSiege co-author Dr. Peter Hotez and me in the context of the dual assault by the right on both climate and public health science: www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

I spent days digging into the public statements of every single Trump Cabinet pick to see what they've said about climate change and it was a horrible process but I did it because Journalism Is Important and climate change is actually real so please click it I beg you heated.world/p/trumps-ent...

The big petro companies have been running a high-profile campaign to "end plastic waste." A new investigation shows that, during the campaign, these companies have produced 1000X more plastic than they have cleaned up. unearthed.greenpeace.org/2024/11/20/a...

Red team-blue team climate review is coming back. Make no mistake, this is a political process to try to create doubt about climate science in order to slow down policy. www.eenews.net/artic...

It's my 1 week anniversary of using BlueSky as my primary social media platform. So much better than the Bond Villain's site! I post on climate and environment, science communication, policy & politics, and anything else that strike's my fancy. Please consider a follow! 🙂

Comparing the global mean surface temperature for every average January to October period since the year 1850. The historic record warmth in 2023 and now 2024 is so striking. 🥹 Data provided by NOAAGlobalTemp version 6.0.0 (www.ncei.noaa.gov/products/lan...).

2024 may be hotter than 1.5C over pre-industrial temperatures, but that doesn't mean we will have passed the 1.5C target of the Paris Agreement in 2024 this is good information👇

This is why I said we needed to hold off on the day-after hot takes about What The Election Means. We still don’t have all the numbers but it’s clear any talk of a “mandate” was wildly overblown. He won, yes. But only narrowly.

Remember: fascism thrives on apathy. The autocrats want you to tune out. They want to overwhelm you. They want you to give up. Don’t give them want they want. Stay in this fight. Remain vigilant. And let’s keep building.

This is real. I’m serious about this. Who’s with me?

An important result last week: A judge who ran with Democratic support won the seat of a retiring conservative justice on the Kentucky supreme court—and will be the state's first Black woman on the supreme court. boltsmag.org/state-suprem...
